Though I felt for Elizabeth Edwards and what her slimy husband did to her, the tape is inadmissible in any court proceeding. There’s chain of custody issues — as well as being able to cross examined her and the veracity of the content of the tape.

Elizabeth Edwards was no saint, I read Game Change and apparently she used to insult Edwards in public. I’m not saying that justifies adultery, but Edwards should have divorced her years ago. Insulting in public is enough to do all of that? I think not. Perhaps the reason why she was insulting him had it’s roots in THIS story. And if that is the case, he deserved far more than that.

The end of a marriage, especially a long term one, when it comes to this level of betrayal, isn’t going to be pretty.

As I recall, Elizabeth Edwards wanted her daughter to take custody of the two younger children upon her death and she was particularly adamant that she didn’t want John and Rielle raising HER children.

As with Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Edwards life revolved around her husband’s career success and she was willing to put up with John’s behaviors just as Hillary was. I believe it’s called “blind ambition.”

Excellent point about Edwards siphoning off Hillary votes. If the media had done its job (in my dreams!), Obama wouldn’t be in the process of destroying the country right now. I’m no fan of Hillary’s, BUT I don’t think she’d preside over the destruction of our economy as Obama is doing.

I may have said this a couple of days ago, but Edwards was my senator for part of the time I was living in Western
NC. John actually cared about and fought for the poor and working class, and all those who are marginalized by
our society. He supported unions. I was proud to have John as my Senator.

I suspect Edwards may have developed mental illness sometime in 2006 or 2007. His actions since then have been inconstant with what he was before. It’s a damn shame what he became.

Depending on the circumstances in which the tape was made, this likely qualifies as a dying declaration, which is an exception to the hearsay rule. In other words, it’s admissible.

There may be chain of custody issues, but I doubt it. Elizabeth Edwards was an attorney, so I’m sure she was aware of the legal requirements for maintaining evidence.

I don’t buy it. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had been unfaithful before in the past. He was completely full of himself feeling on top of the world starting to run a campaign where many people considered him a frontrunner. An attractive woman fell for him. She became pregnant certainly against his wishes. He tried to cover it up funneling money from donors to protect her. A bad situation became a whole lot worse raising questions now being adjudicated over whether he broke campaign finance laws in the coverup. And hence the same old yarn of truth that the coverup is worse than the crime. End of story.

Here’s where I have a problem with that Nat, I remember reading about and watching stories about a Trailer Park that was outside their Mansion and the folks inside the Park said the Edwards never visited them or even waved to them if they happen to be passing by.

If he had an illness it was too much power and too much money and his wife became a bore to him.
