Richard Matt’s Daughter Got Letter from Him 3 Days After Prison Break
One of the newest revelations from the Clinton Correctional Facility prison break in New York is that the daughter of Richard Matt, one of the escaped convicts, received a letter from her father three days after he and David Sweat escaped.
Matt’s daughter (whose identity is not being publicly revealed) was in regular correspondence with him for years while he served his long sentence for murder, but according to the Buffalo News, he sent her an interestingly-worded letter after breaking out.
It read, in part, “I always promised you I would see you on the outside. I’m a man of my word.”
Law enforcement officials say Matt’s daughter did not know about his escape ahead of time, and they even said that Joyce Mitchell––one of the prison employees charged in the escape––was persuaded by Matt to establish a relationship of her own with his daughter.
Matt was fatally shot and killed last Friday when law enforcement caught up to him, two days before Sweat was shot and taken alive.
