Russians Beaming With Pride After the West Expresses Fear Over Russia’s New Supertank

In a report by The Telegraph, leaked British intelligence documents reveal that the UK military is highly concerned with a new Russian supertank because it doesn’t feel that the British government is adequately prepared to combat the threat. And it is making Russians beam with pride.

Apparently, per the report, Britain has no plans to produce a similar tank for the next 20 or so years. The Armata tank, a prototype of which was first rolled out during Russia’s May Day parade last year, is reportedly lighter and faster than Western tanks, while also possessing more protection for its crew and a radar system designed for fighter jets.

“For the first time, a fully automated, digitised, unmanned turret has been incorporated into a main battle tank. And for the first time a tank crew is embedded within an armoured capsule in the hull front.”

The expression of fear by Britain and the West was received favorably by Russians, who took to social media to show nationalistic pride over the show of concern, per Vocativ.

In response, Russians took to Facebook, Twitter, and Russia’s largest social network Vkontakte to express satisfaction and feelings of national pride. “Tell the British intelligence about the superiority of the Russian war machine, so that their twisted brain will get it,” one user, Evgeny Zerinov tweeted, joining hundreds of Russians celebrating what they believe is the superiority of the Russian army.

The Telegraph also highlighted that Russia is planning on building 120 Armata tanks starting in 2018, which would add greatly to its existing fleet of 2,500 tanks and reserve of 12,500, which is currently 35 times the size of Britain’s.

Meanwhile, the United States has roughly 2,300 M1 Abrams tanks but only 250 in and around Eastern Europe.
