Sarah Palin Is The New Da Vinci Code
You will not, I think, be surprised to hear that Sarah Palin is selling a lot of books. Last week The Daily Beast reported that Palin had sold 300,000 copies of Going Rogue in the first day alone (that was last Tuesday, meaning we have officially completed one full week of Sarah Palin).
A large chunk of that number may have come from the heartland chains such as Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club and Kroger, which Politico says have “notched 700,000 in sales in its first week, counting pre-orders.” Yowzer.
When the Beast crunched the numbers they determined that Palin would need to sell 1.6 million books in order to earn out her $7 million advance, and they thought that unlikely to happen. But one look at these numbers and you have to think, never say never. Also no word yet on Hollywood. If not a major motion picture, this is definitely some sort of miniseries waiting to happen. Anyone want to start making casting suggestions?
Below, fans in line at a Going Rogue book signing in Ohio talk about why they have come out to meet Palin. It also happens to be a somewhat fascinating look at the difference between selling books and and selling policies.

Glynnis,
You should take a bow…if not a cut of the profits.
This was a very amusing video and there’s a good chance that I’ll borrow it for my newest blog, but it also seems to demonstrate that Sarah Palin is more of a cultural phenomenon and that a large segment of those buying her book don’t necessarily watch any of the cable channels at night, Fox included.
A roving band of recessive genes and XY chromosomes takes charge.
Walmart is selling them for $8.99. Amazon for $14.00. Keep going Sarah it will be a stretch to reach that $7 million advance.
Nachi knows as much about genetics as it does about anything else.
So typical of the Lame Stream Media to try and diminish average American people. I didn’t hear anything about Obama’s ACORN idiots from these MAGGOTS who stalk Sarah Palin! How about a little fair and balanced reporting, slugs?
Sarah Palin sold 700,000 books the first week and her publisher had to go into a second printing of 2.5 million. She is expected to have 35,000 people at the Villages in Florida on Tuesday. Much to the chagrin of the leftist nutwads, she will easily make her advance PLUS much more. Go Sarah!!
