Ted Cruz Hops on U.S. World Cup Bandwagon, Trolls Belgium

Today is the day where the United States plays Belgium in the World Cup, and, inevitably, today is the day where everyone makes the same goddamn waffle joke. Because, get it? Waffles are from Belgium! They’re super un-American. CRUSH THEM WITH COORS LIGHT RAAAWR.

But we detect a schism in the conservative movement: Where some see America’s love for the World Cup as a sign of moral decay and liberal conspiracy, others see it as a novel way to project American power abroad.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), for one, has announced that he is a breakfast pastry hawk:
