Top Ten Reasons Newt Gingrich Will Flame Out Like A Napalm Birthday Candle

As anyone with a political pulse knows, this year’s race for the Republican presidential nomination has been marked by a string of bubble-and-bust candidacies that would make Lawrence Welk say, “Come on!”

Herman Cain had a great run at the top of the GOP polls, but it looks like Newt Gingrich is set to take a turn at the top that figures to be the quickest yet. Here are ten reasons Newt’s reign will be brief.

” I love the smell of napalm in the morning … smells like…victory.”

  • Mo Fokker

I don’t know, I have such a low opinion of conservatives and the Republican party, that I think they could elect this Fannie/Freddie lobbyist, flip-flopper and  vile philanderer.

  • Anonymous

Oooooooh, Bruce! Spilled my bean-sprout latte all over my Birkenstocks while convulsing with mirth at the delightful, piquant humor in Tomboy’s article. Ooooh, teeheehee.

You forgot reason number 11: He’s a dick.

“Conservatives appreciate a candidate who wraps himself in the flag, not one who towels himself off with it.”
    Great line.

Just saw that he took 1.6 million from Freddie Mac since he left the house. Those history lessons are getting expensive.

  • http://twitter.com/JCP1975 JCP1975

Please, please let Newt maintain a lead in the polls. The opposition research is going to ruin not only his bid for the presidency, but more importantly, it’s finally going to put the final nail in his political coffin.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C34g5mz1ZQ Mayor of Cornfield

Oopsie! I’m afraid you’re going to be sent to the cornfield. Come on in, it’s mighty crowded in here!

  • james jameson

I took a few history classes in college, and would be happy to give Freddie history lessons for a mere $1 million dollars a year.  I had no idea historians were so well paid!  I guess next time I need a loan, I should go to the museum instead of the bank.

  • Concerned Citizen

You’re such a jerk Tommy. Why don’t you do some reporting on the Obama admin telling Solyndra to hold off on layoffs until after last year election? You are such a partisan hack I still can’t believe you have a press room pass.

  • Norbit

Would that be the same Fannie/Freddie as the Democratic Slush Fund used to buy-off their taxpayer-dependent base?

This will fizzle away faster than an Obama promise!

The second best thing Newt will do is to expose the President as the intellectual fraud and dilletante he truly is!
Newt will CRUSH him in a debate, and in the election!

  • http://twitter.com/darrenmcgeary Darren McGeary

I’ll tell you what Tommy, why don’t you challenge Newt to a debate.  Then we’ll see who is not as smart as they think they are.

  • Anonymous

I love people like you. You come here day after day and WHINE incessantly about the story selections and then cry that you’re not being pandered to enough and how you’re VICTIMS of media bias. Well guess what — if you don’t like it here, go start your own friggin’ wing nut media website. GoDaddy will be only too happy to set you up with a URL (perhaps PatheticConservativeWhiners.com?) and then you can post all the anti-Obama garbage that nutters love and need as part of their daily diet.

And please take Gloves and Michelle and Pablo and StonePark with you. I promise that none of you — or your pitiful sense of victimization — will be missed.

  • Jason_in_Vegas

You voted for Obama. Enough said.

  • Jason_in_Vegas

That’s the funniest thing about this article. Does Tommy (I hate adults who still use the child version of there name, btw. Your fucking name should be “Tom”) actually think he’s smarter than Newt Gingrich? Is it possible that liberals can be this out of touch with reality?

Also, Tommy Boy knocks gingrich for being a chubby old white guy. I’m not sure if you’ve looked in a mirror recently, Tommy Boy, but you’re about the dumbest looking son of a bitch this side of Bill Maher. Something something about stones and glass houses.

  • joe

they forgot that he is a lying, cheating, womanizing, phoney hypocrite…
maybe he should take his own advice and arrest himself..

I take it you are going to be the 4th Mrs. Gingrich.

  • http://capitolcommentary.com Harrison

He is smart, but tough to find fault with the rest.

  • Anonymous

    Reason #2a:

“[Newt] continued [his] affair during the Lewinsky scandal [ed. note: presumably because he loved America too much] when Gingrich became a leader of the Republican investigation of
President Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice in connection
    with his alleged affairs”

I think Tommy watched a Rambo marathon immediately before penning this.

Norbit can stay…he reminds me of Smakowski from Office Space.

  • Uniquenewyork

It would really depress me if this place became just another left wing nut job site instead of its current unique form of a left AND right wing nut job site.  Don’t ruin my Palin Gate/Fox Nation sandwich!

  • Anonymous

Don’t you find it even the slightest bit humorous that this board had the nerve to report on the “media complaining they were censored” when this board censors stories all day long?

No victimization on the part of our requests for a little balance on the board.  Everyone knows TC is a liberal lefty, he is proud of it, and he represents the left extremely well as a member of the WHPC; but he is not a journalist in the sense of the word when journalists are supposed to report truth and fact, TC reports his opinion…and that is fine.

It is just laughable when the left complains about “censorship” when they are censors themselves daily.  Obama is a crook…the quid pro quo evidence on giving our tax dollars to his top donors is evidence in a large scale and yet TC cannot bring himself to discuss it.

Yesterday, in Hawaii, Obama said “right here in Asia”….and TC ignored it; just imagine if Palin has said it.

So funny to watch it all.

  • Anonymous

The use of the “napalm” metaphor here is puzzling. The reason why napalm is so effective is because it burns in such a controlled and prolonged manner and is very difficult to remove. So if Tommy was trying to suggest that in spite of his well-known negatives that Gingrich has staying power and likely to withstand efforts to effectively remove him from the field, “napalm” would be very apt.

  • shonangreg

I didn’t realize Tommy was running for President.

Your reaction is childish, Darren, and shows how anathema critical thinking of one’s own is to Republicans.

  • Anonymous

In many ways I agree with you. I’m not interested in an echo chamber. That would be boring and I’d stop posting here. But the conservatives who frequent this board can’t even put up anything remotely resembling an intelligent argument. Instead it’s the same tired litany of victimization, Solyndra and 57 states. And a lot of cutting and pasting from newsmax and hotair. It’s not funny, it’s not clever and it sure as hell ain’t much of a debate.

Newt Gingrich makes the rest of those so called GOP candidates look like real amateurs. He has not only the intellect with a superior brain but all those years of experience on the workings of the federal gov’t. He answers questions without any hesitation because he has intimate knowledge of domestic as well as foreign affairs. He has been in on the inside of government for years and would know where all the bodies are buried in Congress when it comes to getting legislation passed. He has an agenda for almost all of the major concerns that this country has today and he is able to express his thoughts with coherent  and logical thoughts. Show me one other candidate who can measure up to him in any way. In a debate with Obama, he would wash the floor with him on substantail knowledge about any subject.  His only drawback was in the past for his superior attitude and that was only due to the fact that he has a superior mind. All this crap about marriages has nothing to do with running the government. We need a President who runs the country, not worrying about his personal life. Clinton did a pretty good job in spite of his hot pants., We are all human at times but that has nothing to do with his ability to administer the nation out of this recession and keep the nation focused on prosperity.

Newton Gingerich –  the former ten-term congressman from an Atlanta-area district was Speaker of the House and(1) resigned in disgrace. He resigned in disgrace because he was (2)”Womanizing”! Kinda like raising Cain! Newton’s conservative stance will not stand as his (3)”Contract for America” didn’t stand, and(4) “trickle down” didn’t trickle! (5)Compassionate Conservatism wasn’t! This man is a(6) retread, (7)re-hashed and (8)regurgitation of (9)failed concepts doomed to failure again! His third wife testifies to his conservative stance and womanizing! This guy is in it for himself! Gingrich is a (10)greedy, power-hungry and self-centered Republican! Newton will be going up against a proven leader who is proving his capabilities. Under president Obama the job gains in the private sector shows the effects the previous Congress had put into effect with their legislation and the president’s leadership in administering the accomplishments. And the president can multi-task well even with the constant harping and lying from the TEA/GOP/Republican party who tries to undo the previous Congress’s legislation. It’s going to be a great Republican primary season! President Obama has done more to fix the US economy and international relations as well as taking out Osama and sixteen others. His leadership is truly needed and warranted no matter what the TEA/GOP/Republicans say.

  • SayyyyyWhat

The Liberal Dumbazzes are scared to death of Newt. He will tear oBUMmer a new one in a debate. oBumbler won’t know what hit him. Course oBammer can always use his 57 state defense or for that matter, any of his multitude og gaffs over the past 4 years. Come to think about it, the DummyCraps are actually afraid of all the R’s candidates the way they’ve been going crazy over Perry, Cain and the others. But, they definitely don’t want their guy who has NO record of ever going to college have to debate someone smart like Newt Gingrich. Whewwww, Newt will mop up the floor with Obama. It will not be purdy for dem der dems.

It’s the same with the Dems.  Politics in America has become trash.

You mean the economy that is improving on a daily basis?  FYI, when Obama took over as President the DOW was hovering at 8,000. It now maintains a position in the low 12,000′s.

So yeah, I agree. I hope the topic of the economy is an issue that is discussed quite heavily next year.

You are right. But I checked the facts. Three times as many Repubs went to the big house as many as Dems and what irks me is the hypocrysy the Republs get nailed for. And on the “family values” they claim to live by.
We absolutely need to get money out of politics.

Can you read? Tommy’s number 8 is Newt can’t win because he’s ugly.So your liberal friend Tommy makes fun of Newts looks and you call me out on it. Priceless I guess you were up in arms with the articles on Bachman and Perry sucking in corn dogs.Grow a spine Poosie..

.I don’t think ‘Spanky” from Our Gang” needs you to defend him. He’s real good at slinging the arrows and when the tempermental little bitch gets upset he stops you from posting. Now that’s a real Poosie.

  • http://twitter.com/darrenmcgeary Darren McGeary

You don’t have a clue about my critical thinking.  You won’t see a post ANYWHERE of me getting on the Bachmann, Perry, or Cain bandwagons at the time.  I have no doubt all 3 are sufficiently conservative enough for me, but all 3 are undisciplined for a presidential race.  And unfortunately, in this day and age , with the type of media scrutiny of Republicans, a winning candidate must have ready access to a ton of facts and figures.  (A scrutiny not applied to Obama or Biden.  Their gaffes are just as numerous) Newt has that.  He is THE smartest candidate in the race on either side.  For Tommy to say otherwise just further illustrates his bias against Republicans (ie If you’re Republican, you can’t possibly be as smart as Tommy).

My only problem with Newt Gingrich has been personal character issues.  My growing experience has shown me though (and I hate being a cynic) that nearly EVERYONE in Washington has personal character issues to some degree.  Most Republicans DO care about that or else Gingrich would be the runaway front runner right now. (As opposed to Democrats all out embrace of Clinton, Ted Kennedy)

How’s that for critical thinking, Mr. Anonymous.

  • shonangreg

“How’s that for critical thinking, Mr. Anonymous.”

It is better than most Republicans — better than 80 or 90% even. I don’t understand the rationale behind this, though: “I have no doubt all 3 are sufficiently conservative enough for me…” I rarely hear Democrats saying someone is not Liberal enough. We talk about their grasp of issues, character, and the specific planks of their platform. The degree of Liberal-ness is secondary or even tertiary. Republicans seem to think, the vast majority of them, that the more conservative the better. That is just myopic and wrong.

And Mr. anonymous? You can check out a fairly long history of me posting as shonangreg. My character is therein contained. I don’t see anything there for you to criticize. Using your real name on the net, otoh . . . Why run that risk? What benefit is there? You know there are crazy people who will target or threaten to target people for seemingly random or just plain insane reasons. You posting under your own name is nothing to be proud of, in my opinion.

  • Dyspolity

But womanizing isn’t any big thing anymore, right? Libs didn’t care what Bill Clinton did in his “private time”. They still considered him a “Great President”. Everyone knows Newt’s background. If it didn’t stop Clinton, why should it stop Newt?

Obama has had less vacation than the previous presidents. You fail.

  • Blogdogg23

Are you freaking kidding me?  Newt is warmed over hash.  He’s the last abysmal hope of the far right who was sure that they could find a someone to the political right of Mitt with half a brain.  Ooops.  No such luck.  So the only person with half a brain left is Newt.  Warmed over hash. Newt is actually the perfect opponent for Romney at this stage of the drama.  Newt is the emperor-in-chief of the flip-flop, I can’t decide if he’s primary ”leftovers” or “rightovers”  But soon enough, it will be over for Newt.

If your “leftover” candidate ever got in front of Barak Obama, it would only be after the “democrat machine” had exposed all his double dealing and double talk; all his character, and personality flaws.  This pompus, egotistical, philandering, lifetime politician would look like a maggot on the stage of a presidential debate.

Heck once he’s exposed to the light even you won’t like him Norbit.  America..especially independant voters, women voters and any one else who is a Tea Party wingnut would see him for what he is.  He would look like and sound like a loser.  This will become clearer and clearer to you as it did with all of your choices before him (Trump, Palin, Bachman, Perry, Cain)  He would be crushed before he even got on the stage.

Wake up and smell the Tea.  You’re thinker than you dumb you are.

  • Billy Sunday

If it’s true then it’s not a smear you moron!  Your saving grace is a loser who shut down the goverment and then cheated on his wife while preaching Family Values!  Keep praying!  You religious conservative freaks are good at that!  Hallelujah!

You forgot to mention that he was a corrupt scumbag when he was in Congress who had to resign in disgrace.  He had literally dozens of ethics complaints against him, was caught up in several scandals, and is the only Speaker of the House in history to be sanctioned – to the tune of 300 grand.  The only thing he’s got over your average come to do good, stay to do well politician is that he had the consistency to have a hand in someone’s pocket from day 1.

Of course, reasons 1 through 10 should be that he was banging a staffer young enough to be his daughter while leading the charge against Clinton for getting hummers from Lewinsky.  A Democrat might be able to come back from that, but there’s no way a Republican can.

Maybe if Newt gets the nomination, he can get Palin for VP. Just like Newt, she’s good at quitting elected office when the going gets tough. My favorite quote from the Newt when he quit congress after the spanking the Republicans got in the 1988 election is “I’m willing to lead but I’m not willing to preside over people who are
cannibals. My only fear would be that if I tried to stay, it would just
    overshadow whoever my successor is.”

Everyone loves the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Nobody likes his bipolar brother

    I don’t know about this.

Gingrich is an arrogant, self-serving, sanctimonious, condescending, morally-bankrupt and ethically-barren scam artist and master lobbyist — making him the ideal candidate to represent the principles, values, and political agenda of the Republican Party.
