Trump Denies Gorsuch Criticized Him, Even Though Gorsuch’s Spokesman Confirmed He Did

In a Thursday morning tweet, President Donald Trump attacked a Democratic senator for claiming that his Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch said that his attacks on the judiciary are “demoralizing.”

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal indeed has a history of misrepresenting his service during Vietnam. But Trump’s attacks on Blumenthal’s claims are odd, since Gorsuch’s spokesman already confirmed that he said what Blumenthal claimed he said.

“Ron Bonjean, who is leading communications for Gorsuch during the confirmation process, confirmed Gorsuch called Trump’s tweet about the ‘so-called judge’ ‘disheartening’ and ‘demoralizing’ in his conversation with Blumenthal,” CNN reported Wednesday.
