Trump: Melania Speechwriter ‘Made a Mistake,’ ‘Terrific’ How She Came Forward
Donald Trump gave his first TV reaction to the Melania Trump plagiarism controversy in an interview with ABC News tonight.
He told George Stephanopoulos that Meredith McIver (who is a real person, despite Twitter buzz) came to him “because she hated to see the conflict.” Trump said, “She made a mistake, and, you know, people make mistakes. You’ve made mistakes, we’ve all made mistakes.”

“I thought,” he added, “it was terrific the way she came forward.”
McIver only came forward after the Trump team spent almost two whole days coming up with the most ludicrous defenses of the plagiarism.
