Twitter Absolutely Explodes Over Sudden Roseanne Cancellation: ‘Hope the Racist Tweets Were Worth it’

The Twittersphere erupted on Tuesday after ABC announced they were cancelling Roseanne Barr‘s revived sitcom in light of her racist, unhinged tweetstorm.
Barr drew widespread condemnation for her off-the-rails tweets — particularly one in which she said Valerie Jarrett would be the end result if the Muslim Brotherhood had a baby with Planet of the Apes.
Disney chairman Robert Iger confirmed that Roseanne would be cancelled, and he calling the statements from the actress “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
From Channing Dungey, President of ABC Entertainment: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.— Robert Iger (@RobertIger) May 29, 2018
Since the Roseanne story has dominated the media cycle for the last few hours, people were bound to say a few things about this development. Some people mocked Barr, while praising ABC. Others wondered how the network overlooked Barr’s history of objectionable comments until now. And then, there were those who wondered how long it’ll be before President Donald Trump and conservatives denounce the show’s cancellation by calling it censorship.
Good job @ABCNetwork! You may continue to have a copyright on the first 11.5% of the alphabet.

So I guess Roseanne is part of the Intellectual Dark Web now.

ABC cancelled Roseanne after her racist tweet!
Roseanne, that entire cast supported you when you didn’t deserve support because they believed in the art of the show.
You alone are responsible for the loss of their jobs.

I am shocked, shocked that this person could prove too controversial to be the centerpiece of a network television show. https://t.co/CjxrGxCpbi pic.twitter.com/L7gLu1SbBO

Me to MAGA twitter who is inevitably going to try to make defending Roseanne a thing pic.twitter.com/obLWO5thf3

Just take a moment to observe all the things Roseanne had to do to get canceled:
– Call Valerie Jarrett an ape
– accuse dems child sex trafficking
– tell Hillary Clinton to commit suicide
– accuse Chelsea Clinton of being part of a Jewish conspiracy
– call George Soros a Nazi— Travon Free (@Travon) May 29, 2018
Fox & Friends & Roseanne gonna be tight

In all seriousness, the next week of conservative whining equating consequences for racism with censorship is going to be really tiresome.

BREAKING: @ABC and @Disney do the right thing. There are still boundaries in the Age of Trump that cannot be crossed. Thank you for putting values above money.

I told you people if you treated Roseanne like some sort of credible voice for our times, you would be embarrassed.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) May 29, 2018
Roseanne’s network wanted to showcase the average Trump voter. And that’s exactly what they got.
