Twitter Has Some Questions About Trump’s Flynn Tweet: ‘He Knew Flynn Lied to FBI’?

President Trump broke his Twitter silence about Michael Flynn this afternoon, which only raised more questions for Media Twitter.
Trump tweeted he fired Flynn “because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI”:
I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 2, 2017
Which led to a few people asking one big question:
Also – POTUS is saying he knew Flynn lied to FBI but only fired him because of Pence issue?? https://t.co/Znv6xclIIE

It seems Trump is saying he knew Flynn lied to the FBI. I wonder what the White House lawyers think of this tweet. https://t.co/biHO1dr2yx

Flynn was interviewed by the FBI on Jan. 24. Trump, who says he knew Flynn lied to them, didn’t ask for his resignation until Feb. 13. https://t.co/AwXFTUmoW9

How did Trump know he lied to the FBI when he fired him? https://t.co/tXcv3qZcgy

…just couldn't resist commenting on Flynn.
Are you ADMITTING you knew Flynn had lied to the FBI when you asked Comey to back off Flynn??????????????????????????????????????????? https://t.co/HJWlUvC99F

So at the time you fired Flynn, you knew he had lied to the FBI??
And then you fired Comey to help Flynn?

Trump never said in February that Flynn lied to the FBI. The story thus far has always been that he lied to Pence, though Flynn's stipulation to Mueller puts that in question. This is a retcon. https://t.co/uZtrW8ezgN

So is Trump saying he knew Flynn lied to the FBI when he fired him? https://t.co/0BDWVeaTuF

Perhaps the New York Times‘ Maggie Haberman summed it up best:
Somewhere, White House aides are screaming into pillows https://t.co/Znv6xclIIE

UPDATE –– 1:43 pm ET: A couple of Congressional Democrats weighed in too:
So you’re saying you KNEW at the time that Flynn lied to the FBI -a federal crime- and fired him for that?
And you asked the FBI Director to “let” Flynn “go,” KNOWING he committed a federal crime?
And you fired Comey over the Russia investigation KNOWING a crime was committed? https://t.co/7OlgPykNUR

.@realDonaldTrump is either lying about the investigation OR confessing to knowledge of a crime. Either way, @HouseJudiciary should hold hearings! https://t.co/S8co8DgCXF

THIS IS OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE. @POTUS now admits he KNEW Michael Flynn lied to the FBI. Yet Trump tried to influence or stop the FBI investigation on #Flynn. https://t.co/8JqGBxgou0
