Um, Is The RNC Trying To Use Glenn Beck’s Chalkboard To Raise Money?

Politico got its hands on a confidential party fundraising presentation from the Republican National Committee: Is Glenn Beck secretly running the RNC? From Ben Smith:

The presentation explains the Republican fundraising in simple terms.

“What can you sell when you do not have the White House, the House, or the Senate…?” it asks.

The answer: “Save the country from trending toward Socialism!”

Manipulating donors with crude caricatures and playing on their fears is hardly unique to Republicans or to the RNC – Democrats raised millions off George W. Bush in similar terms – but rarely is it practiced in such cartoonish terms.

One page, headed “The Evil Empire,” pictures Obama as the Joker from Batman, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leaders Harry Reid are depicted as Cruella DeVille and Scooby Doo, respectively.

There is no mention of “progressives” or secret Maoists in the report — and on the whole it lacks the humor and finesse of Beck’s chalkboard moments — but it’s hard to look at images like the one above and not conclude that someone in the RNC is a fan of Mr. Beck and his (often fear-mongering) chalkboard! And really, who wouldn’t want his ratings. Alas, Smith notes that Republicans are already distancing themselves from the presentation…being Beck is harder than it looks! You can see the full presentation here.

I love the “Obama as Joker” poster. At one time, only leftists would do stuff like that (see, e.g., the images they made of Pres. Bush and Sarah Palin).

It just goes to show that conservatives aren’t as set in their ways as leftists like to think. Every nasty thing we do, we learned from you. Thank you!

Yes…Obama wanting society to be without rules and anarchistic makes a whole lot of sense. Not.

Note to RNC, GET OUT OF THE GUTTER.

Glenn Beck is a complete idiot that needs to be taken away in a straight jacket and put in a rubber room.

Azarkhan: I just want to say that I appreciate the candor in your admission that right wingers are, indeed, “nasty.” As far as learning it from the libs, really when I think back to Reagan’s “Iran Contra,” and Nixon’s “Watergate,” Bush’s outing CIA agents out of nothing more than schoolyard spite, I begin to suspect you must be pulling legs. The corporate, nationalist idea that the Tea-baggers are tacitly supporting stem from a vision once held by Benito Mussolini. At the end of the day, I wonder if the Republican Party will be Fascist enough for the Tea-baggers.

DrinkURtea, I’ve got a pair. Let me know when you want to teabag me. Given how often you used that expression, you must have quite a bit of experience! Can’t wait!

I thought Rush Limbaugh was the Republican leader? When you “progressives” figure out who is the actual leader please let the rest of us know, k?

Actually, Fascists are much closer to the left’s philosophy. More government involvement in every aspect of the citizens’ lives. And Mussolini’s buddy Hitler, likewise. National socialism was all about government controlling everything, just like the far left wants.

    7:42′s had too much tea….

Umm… aren’t all these images, graphics, and tactics well known and on the internet? What is the evidence that Glenn Beck is the originator, and not just a television personality who talked about them? We already know who did the “Obama as the Joker” picture… and that had nothing to do with Beck.

Your inference is unfounded… although, being wrong is apparently one of your hobbies, so we’re not surprised.

Seriously man, do you work for the FNC PR department? Because your comments read like every press release they’ve ever written. A condescending takedown punctuated by an incredibly dickish insult. You can almost hear the sneer in your voice while reading your posts. I can only hope that you are not as much of an insufferable jerk in real life – the anonymity of the Internet can do terrible things to people.

Of course, the point is that your rightists need to get together, decide who the leader of the Republican party is, then tell the RNC. If you decide on Beck, fine and dandy. In fact, I’d be deeeeeelighted.

    Cubby,

    Well said.

    Oh… but I am!

Do me a favor… next time you see Roxy on this site calling for the death of a political opponent… explain why those comments are more to your liking, than my staking of obvious fact. I know, facts you disagree with… but you know, reality and all. Sadly, your disagreement doesn’t actually make the untrue.

Cubby and same2u, just because I’m not blue comes up with some zingers now and then does not mean he works for the leader in cable news (uh, that would be FOX).
