Yawn. Sarah Palin Was On Oprah

Picture 2Well, that was a snooze fest. After weeks of anticipation about what Sarah Palin might reveal on Oprah Winfrey, or what Oprah might take Palin to account for — death panels come to mind — the answer in the end was: very little. What we got instead was a warm, chummy hour of Palin answering questions having mostly to do with with how Palin was treated as a woman; how she copes as a mother; and how she feels about Levi Johnston (she’s sounded very tolerant…Levi has an open invitation to Thanksgiving) and “perky” Katie Couric (annoyed) .

What we did not get was any questions about death panels, Tina Fey, her current relationship with John McCain, or her views Obama’s policy decisions, or how she feels about her current role in the GOP (which is extremely powerful). Granted, this was not Meet the Press, but considering Palin almost single-handedly derailed the health care bill this summer with false death panel assertions, it’s reasonable to assume Oprah might address her penchant for public exaggeration of policy decisions. No. Instead we basically got what felt like a long infomercial for Palin’s memoir Going Rogue. As Rachel Sklar noted at the end of our live blog: “Things more interesting and compelling than this Oprah interview: Finding things that rhyme with Oprah. Shmoprah. Gloprah. Froprah. Thxleweoproprah.”

What you should compare that to is how that was different than any other interview that Oprah has done (answer: it was no different). Although I have never sat and watched an entire Oprah show, I have watched YouTube vids of her show when some big names have been on. Maybe you should take off your Obama tinted glasses for a minute and actually look at the facts.

While you wanted a hard hitting piece, the plain truth is that this was exactly the type of interview that Oprah does, she is not a hard hitting, “gotcha” journalist.

Correction, 4 posts on Palin today, and counting!

    Great interview, Sarah! Rock on!!

It was a good interview. I don’t think Oprah does hard news, maybe you should listen to Rush tomorrow at 1pm when he interviews here! (snicker, snicker).

If Obamacare is such a good idea, how could a Facebook post derail it?

I don’t think we’ll get a really ‘revealing’ interview until Bill O’Reilly goes head-to-head with Palin…maybe Walters tomorrow.

I’ve got to say Glynnis, while I agree it was not hard-hitting or particularly newsy, the whole yawn thing may be a result of ‘Hey, Sarah Palin came off pretty well…boring.’ For those who like her, or were indifferent before, she came across genuine and well-spoken – a big net gain for her political future.

I don’t like Palin (I don’t like her policies and I hate hunters), but I like Oprah even less.

IOW Oprah treated Palin like she did Obama during his entire campaign. Well, that’s fair. Now if Katie Couric had done the same (in either direction) McCain would be president today.

Palin told Oprah ” My dad said it best. She’s not retreating, she’s reloading.” Typical goofy Palinesque comment. Leave it Keith Olbermann, however, to take that phrase and allign her with the Fort Hood Shooter.
Who is he impressing with that crapolla?

Why are you always attacking Conservatives wheres the Beef on The Maoist Barack Obama. I like Sarah Palins spunk and she looks good she wont run for President but she will make about 10 million bucks this year so put that in your bong and smoke it.

Glynniss is clearly very jealous of Palin.

I wonder if Glynnis has ever been this upset with Brian Williams (an actual journalist) for any of his manifestly bended-knee interviews with President Obama? Surely she wants our public figures to have their feet held to the fire every time they’re interviewed. The tone of the article couldn’t have anything to do with mere partisan politics could it?

The part where she talked about Levi’s porn career was worth the price of admission for me:

The ultimate Palin question ( and you know you’ve thought it too): Will Sarah Palin sneak over to Playgirl.com for a little peak?

I prefer the word Doprah myself.

Well what an you expect from. avowed FRIEND OF OBAMA, The Oprah.

If Ms. Palin were a Liberal, or a male star, SHE would be jumping on HER chair !
