Yes, a Middle School Class Was Really Given a Cocaine Cartel Assignment
Man, how things have changed.
A Keller, Texas school has come under fire for reportedly giving students an assignment in the ways of casual coke dealership. The assignment, called “The Cocaine Trade: From Field to Street”, was given to a class of 11-year-olds at Bear Creek Intermediate School.
CBS-Dallas/Fort Worth is reporting that one of the students’ fathers — Scott Pick — expressed outrage to local media outlets about the school’s decision to give this sort of assignment to children. Pick said, “I felt like they were giving my kid a diagram of how to become a drug dealer.”
The report identifies the assignment as, “a critical thinking exercise about sequences following the cocaine trade from field to street.”
Screengrabs of the assignment made available from CBS indicate that the school work in question included steps such as “Large distributors buy cocaine from cartel for $25,000 per kilo” to “Cartel smuggles cocaine by boat or plane into the US”.
The school said in response, “…The study sheet in question will be reviewed before being considered for future use.”
