During an appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Keith Olbermann casually amplified completely unsubstantiated rumors about House Speaker John Boehner, rumors which have thus far avoided repetition by most reputable news organizations. During a conference call Friday morning to discuss the unveiling of Countdown II: Electric Boogaloo, Olbermann talked about the benefits of freedom from a corporate behemoth, saying that when preparing for the new show, he had to “stop myself from stopping myself.”

Al Gore has accused Rupert Murdoch of an “abuse of power,” saying the News Corp. chief forced Gore’s Current TV off the air in Italy because the channel–preparing to launch a signature nightly show with ex-MSNBC host Keith Olbermann–did not fit with Murdoch’s “ideological agenda.”

Wow. Well, here’s a new theory as to why Glenn Beck is leaving Fox News. Here we thought Beck’s move further towards Internet news with The Blaze was just a canny admission of where the industry is heading. However, today, Beck made comments that seemed to imply that he just doesn’t think he can reach a young audience on his current network.

If it seemed like everyone was ganging up on James Franco, Anne Hathaway, and the Oscars yesterday, it’s because they were. In one of many brutal takedowns, Rolling Stone‘s Peter Travers said, “The stirrings I felt from the 83rd annual Oscar show made me want to puke. How could so many stars bore so many people breathless?” Few critics could find anything positive to say about the ceremony, and many echoed the same declaration of “Worst Oscars Ever.” But that phrase may sound familiar – it’s been summoned on several occasions in years past (it’s also somewhat accepted that 1989′s show was really the worst ever). Here, a look at how reviewers of the annual spectacle have summoned the same refrain:

Word on the street is that Keith Olbermann has a fair amount of time on his hands until he begins his new gig at Current TV. Looks like “Keith” took a break from his preparations to give an interview to Breitbart.tv’s Larry O’Connor to discuss his future, mingling with conservatives, and the new version of “Worst Persons.”

With all the talk about what Keith Olbermann’s move to Current TV means for Keith, the bigger question is what it means for Current. If you’re to believe the network’s chairman Al Gore, it means a lot. Gore gave an interview to The Wrap in which he claimed that, ever since yesterday’s announcement, people have already begun looking for the channel.

On Fox News’ late-night Red Eye, Greg Gutfeld asked his panel about the move by ex-MSNBC host Keith Olbermann to Al Gore‘s Current TV. “Is this a blowhard bromance?”

In a discussion that described Olbermann’s move to the poorly-rated Current (described by Gutfeld as a network devoted to “knitting and all things yarn”) as “deserved oblivion,” Current was described as such a nonfactor in the cable television world that it didn’t even warrant a mention in Olbermann’s presumed noncompete agreement with NBC. “They had ‘don’t work at Subway,’ but not that,” said Gutfeld.

The big news of the morning has been Keith Olbermann’s new job at Current TV meaning the big news of the rest of the day will be everyone’s reactions to it. Jumping into the fray is Rush Limbaugh who discussed the announcement on his radio show this morning. He suggested that, “in normal circumstances,” Olbermann would have publicists hide this move, hoping that “nobody ever heard about it” implying just how much the talk radio giant thinks of Al Gore’s television network. But, since that’s not going to happen, Limbaugh suggested that everyone else should stop talking about it instead.

You can set your watch by it ever year. Whenever there’s snow on the ground, as sure there are children hoping for a snow day, there’s someone out there smugly shaking their head and saying, “Guess Al Gore was wrong about that whole Global Warming thing, huh?” This year that person was Bill O’Reilly and, this year, he actually got a response from none other than Gore himself.

Almost exactly ten years ago, the Supreme Court ruled that George W. Bush would be the 43rd president of the United States. To commemorate that landmark decision, New York Magazine asked five writers to each compose a short piece detailing what might have happened if Al Gore had instead unequivocally won in 2000. Those authors include Kurt Andersen, Kevin Baker, Jane Smiley, Walter Kirn—and, most surprisingly of all, Glenn Beck.

Former Vice President Al Gore was in Tampa, Florida this weekend, campaigning with Democratic Senate candidate Kendrick Meek, when he came upon some skeptics of Gore’s global warming theory. Chant’s of “You’re a fraud!” and shout’s calling global warming a “hoax,” lead by a group that calls themselves “We Are Change,” a grassroots group whose mission is to “reveal the truth behind the events of September 11th, as well as the lies of the government and corporate elite who remain suspect in this crime.”

After reopening a case against former Vice President Al Gore accusing him of sexually harassing a masseuse almost exactly one month ago, Portland, Oregon police officials have announced that they are ending the investigation against Gore due to lack of evidence on the part of the accuser, Molly Hagerty, who made national news when she accused Gore of assault in the National Enquirer.

O’Reilly Factor guest host Laura Ingraham and John Stossel discussed the scandal that bloomed last week over Sen. John Kerry who was accused of registering his family’s multi-million dollar yacht in Rhode Island so as to avoid Massachusetts’ high taxes. The two used this as a springboard to talk about other “Do as I say, not as I do” scandals involving liberals which both seemed to enjoy. They moved from one scandal to the next with the delight of a child sizing up her presents on Christmas morning.

The national media have been much quicker to report on the National Enquirer-driven Al Gore sex scandal than they were the John Edwards story, both of which featured underpinnings of traditional journalism, such as named sources, documents, and in Edwards’ case, photographs. It may surprise some, then, that quick-to-lecture-on-journalism Politics Daily Chief Editor Melinda Henneberger is peddling a new rumor about Gore, with a single anonymous source. More sad news from the Al Gore camp, who is starting to look more and more like the new John Edwards every day: Gore and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Tipper, will not be attending Chelsea Clinton‘s wedding, and event they had reported been “looking forward to” a year ago, before the Gores hit this recent unfortunate patch of events.

Last week we wrote about NMA News, the Taiwanese news service that covers stories through animated retellings, and their coverage of the 2006 Al Gore sex scandal. News broke last night that Portland Oregon law enforcement authorities are reopening the investigation into claims that former Vice President Al Gore sexually harassed a massage therapist in 2006. NBC Chief Legal Analyst (and Mediaite founder) Dan Abrams appeared with Meredith Vieira on Today this morning, and predicted that this investigation will open and close without any charges brought against the former Vice President.

Portland Oregon law enforcement authorities announced tonight that they are reopening the investigation into claims that former Vice President Al Gore sexually harassed a massage therapist in 2006. The decision comes in light of new discoveries by the National Enquirer including the discovery of stained pants.

It looks like the National Enquirer may have moved one step closer to recapturing its John Edwards-era glory, as the masseuse who alleges that ex-VP Al Gore sexually assaulted her has brought considerably more to the table. In a teaser for their latest issue, the Enquirer identifies the alleged victim as Molly Hagerty, and says she’s given them DNA evidence, a “bombshell witness,” and “secret hotel video surveillance.”

The list of things Glenn Beck wouldn’t do on his program to make a point clearer to his audience is ever-shrinking. Yesterday, Beck crossed “ride a stage lift high into the ceiling of his studio, to stick red tape to the highest point in the room” off that list, all in the name of the free market. It was the only way to accurately depict his “hockey stick graph” of global per capita GDP throughout history.

Some of you may remember in January when a news report from Taiwanese NMA News went viral in America. The video featured a retelling of the Conan/Leno battles as told through what looked like the animation of a Playstation 2 game. Well, if that was NMA’s Steamboat Willie, then they have now produced their own Fantasia in a truly amazing version of the Al Gore sex scandal from 2006. After the bizarre National Enquirer story claiming Al Gore got inappropriately frisky with a masseuse in 2006 hit the mainstream, it wasn’t hard to imagine what the former Vice President and his wife, Tipper, felt about the headlines. Or at least it wasn’t hard to imagine for Glenn Beck and his radio team, who got an “exclusive” interview with the Gores (as portrayed by his on-air sidekicks Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere).

Reports have just surfaced that during a 2006 visit to Portland, the former Vice President was accused by a massage therapist of “unwanted sexual contact,” but a lack of evidence led to no charges being filed. The story first appeared in the National Enquirer, but has since been picked up by mainstream news outlets including the Associated Press, the New York Times and Fox News. But the AP report ends with a Detective’s claim that complainant “planned to take her case to the news media.” Is this another example of check book journalism?

Take this with a grain of salt. The tabloid Star Magazine (ok, let me change it from “grain of salt” to “more salt than an entire New York pretzel cart”) is reporting that Al and Tipper Gore’s divorce may have been caused by an affair that Al had with Laurie David, one of the producers of An Inconvenient Truth. What makes the allegations more interesting (or at least makes the headline more interesting) is that David is the ex-wife of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David.

Al and Tipper Gore are not the only members of their family to be experiencing marital problems: their daughter: Karenna Gore Schiff, has been separated from her husband and in counseling, as well. While People Magazine, who broke the story, reports that this is not a new development, the public announcement comes a week after the famous political couple announced their separation.
