Conservatives and liberals alike will find their blood boiling when watching the following video, in which Keith Olbermann delivers what he calls a “Special Comment” on the Tea Party’s midterm election candidates. In this nearly 20 minute-long segment, the Countdown host recites a long list of the movement’s affronts to progressivism before ending with a plea for all liberals, Democrats, disillusioned Republicans, moderates, and political neutrals to vote against the Tea Party next Tuesday.

The surreal scene of MoveOn.org representative Lauren Valle getting her head stomped on outside last night’s Kentucky Senate debate between Rand Paul and Jack Conway was destined to be cable news fodder for someone tonight, and Keith Olbermann followed through by not only discussing the matter, but bringing Valle on to Countdown to talk about it.

Last night on Countdown, Keith Olbermann took a look at the current state of the Tea Party – or, as he dubbed it, “living on an entirely separate plane of existence with unicorns and optional gravity and intelligent design and flat Earth societies and Christine ‘you’re so dumb how do you find the front door every day’ O’Donnell.” You can guess how it went.

Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks got a chance to guest host MSNBC’s flagship prime time program, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, on Tuesday. While the ratings weren’t kind to Uygur, the higher-ups at the network were, as MSNBC announced today that Uygur is joining the fold as a contributor and substitute anchor.

“What exactly do the secret big-money moneybags behind hundreds of millions of dollars of attack ads against Democrats want from the Republicans they’re trying to help?” asked Keith Olbermann—a little inarticulately—at the top of his show last night.

Liberal firebrand and host of pioneering radio/webcast The Young Turks Cenk Uygur made his guest-hosting debut on MSNBC’s Countdown last night, and as he signed off, delivered a thank you to regular host Keith Olbermann. Briefly describing Countdown‘s Bush-era emergence, Uygur said it was an honor to host the show “in the house that Olbermann built,” a reference that is sure to both please Olbermann, and launch spit-your-drink cackles from the host’s detractors.

Countdown might have been guest-hosted by the Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur tonight, but the show wasn’t too much different from normal. Perhaps the best indication of that: Glenn Beck has a new endorsement deal (this one for freeze-dried food “in case the world goes to heck in a handbasket”), and Countdown – and Uygur – were all over it.

Clearly, the topic of the day (and now, night) is the Behar/Goldberg walkout during Bill O’Reilly’s appearance on The View. Behar and O’Reilly each gave their sides on their programs tonight, and Keith Olbermann also threw his hat into the ring on Countdown. And when he did, he didn’t hold back…to his detriment.

You may remember that last Friday, when Rick Sanchez was fired by CNN for making controversial remarks about Jon Stewart and Jewish people in general, Keith Olbermann gave Sanchez “Worser” status on “Worst Person in the World.” Well, since then, Sanchez has talked to Stewart, hashed things out and issued an apology…but it wasn’t enough for Olbermann, and tonight he made Sanchez “Worser” again.

Give Christine O’Donnell this: the controversies surrounding her haven’t been boring. Tonight, Keith Olbermann decided to satirize these controversies – only in doing so, he upped the weirdness ante and created one of the strangest six minutes of television ever committed to the small screen.

Tonight on his “Oddball” segment on Countdown, Keith Olbermann took a look at the strangest moment from President Barack Obama’s speech today – the Presidential Seal falling off his podium in the middle of his address.

So if you haven’t heard (and we really, really doubt you haven’t at this point), Rick Sanchez was fired from CNN today. The cause: this radio rant where he went off on Jon Stewart and made what could be (and indeed were) construed as untoward remarks about Jews. Several pundits spoke up on the matter later this evening, and let’s just say there’s not much mourning out there for Sanchez.

Last night Keith Olbermann devoted a segment on Countdown to a deal Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid struck with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell involving President Obama and recess appointments – specifically, that the President now can’t make them because Reid will keep the Senate “in session” on a technicality. (He once cut a similar deal so President Bush couldn’t make recess appointments.) Olbermann, as you might expect, was not thrilled about this deal.

Unsurprisingly, Keith Olbermann dedicated one Countdown segment last night to the New York Times Magazine‘s profile of Glenn Beck. Bringing particular joy to Olbermann: Fox News’ own – and advertisers’ – occasionally conflicting feelings about Beck.

The survey conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life that found atheists and agnostics generally know more about religions than the people who practice those religions has plenty of people talking – including Keith Olbermann, who expounded/riffed on the results with actor/comedian/outspoken atheist David Cross on tonight’s Countdown.

Keith Olbermann noted on Countdown tonight that “this is the day health care reform began to take effect.” He then quickly added the Democrats celebrated the enactment of the bill today by saying…nothing. It’s safe to say he wasn’t thrilled by this…and (surprise!) it’s even safer to say his guest Michael Moore isn’t enamored of Democrats currently, either.

You’ll never believe this one, but it appears Keith Olbermann isn’t the biggest fan of Fox News. But in case there was any doubt, on last night’s Countdown he made it clear again, going after what he sees as the network blatantly enabling Republican political candidates, and the candidates themselves for taking full advantage.

There’s a media storm brewing over a Florida church’s plan to hold a “Burn a Quran Day” event this Saturday, on the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Tonight on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, the host took aim at the event, but not from the religious-freedom perspective some viewers would expect.

Yes, MSNBC is still talking about the Restoring Honor rally. Well, Keith Olbermann is at least. Tonight on Countdown, Olbermann pointed to a moment in Glenn Beck’s speech where he claimed to have gone to the National Archives and held a copy of George Washington’s first inaugural address in his hands. Anyone whose been to the National Archives might have though that unlikely, but only Olbermann would take the time to call the Archives up.

The past couple of nights, Keith Olbermann has done lengthy reports on Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally. He’s pointed to Fox News’ claims that they won’t promote the rally and claimed hypocrisy as Beck’s been all over Fox & Friends and the O’Reilly Factor talking it up. However, at the end of Olbermann’s piece, we had one question: who’s really talking about the rally more, Fox News or MSNBC? Fortunately, with the help of our friends at TV Eyes, we can find out.

Somewhere in America, there are real stories. Unfortunately, the media always seems to find something else to talk about. Soon that topic is all anyone can talk about. This week, that topic is the “Ground Zero Mosque” and like every insignificant, overly politicized topic that we shouldn’t be wasting our time with in the first place, it was perfect gristle for a classic Keith Olbermann Special Comment.

Tonight, Keith Olbermann returned from what must have been the least relaxing vacation ever. During his two weeks off, he had to deal with two of his top producers leaving, getting dissed by Glenn Beck and (retroactively) the members of Journolist, coming into the office to film an entire special comment on Andrew Breitbart, and, of course, sending out tweets about every five seconds. Some might think all of that would take something out of the man but no, he returned in fine form with a text book Worst Persons in the World segment.

Tonight was MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann‘s return to television following the passing of his father last Saturday. If during that week (which included the passing of the health care reform bill), the Countdown host did any reflecting on his political position and influence on his sizable viewership, it was not of the sort that led him to make peace with his fellowmen. Not only did Olbermann take on the entire Tea Party – which he said racism was at the heart of – but the whole of the GOP for whipping up their contingents into such an ugly frenzy.

Despite the absurdity of the Liz Cheney/Keep America Safe “Al Qaeda 7″ ad, and the fact that Cheney’s group sounds like its mascot ought to be a pee-pants version of Woodsy Owl, the spot has been generating a lot of heat. Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and frequent Countdown contributor Eugene Robinson wrote a scathing op-ed yesterday attacking the fallacy behind the ad, but it could have easily been directed at his friend and colleague, Keith Olbermann

Isn’t Countdown host Keith Olbermann supposed to be inside some kind of tank for President Obama? That’s what I keep hearing, but you wouldn’t know it to watch his segment on the POTUS’ proposed SOTU spending freeze. It’s one thing to say that the freeze is a gimmick and a bad idea, but quite another thing to not tell the whole story. For a guy who constantly mocks Fox News’ “Fair and Balanced” slogan, Keith displayed a marked lack of both.
