Bill O’Reilly Talks Health Care, Sarah Palin (Who Needs “Political College”) On ABC
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos was a guest on The O’Reilly Factor late last year, and this morning the tables turned. The Good Morning America host interviewed Bill O’Reilly, who was candid and balanced in his critique of partisan politics, Sarah Palin and more.
So much so, it had Stephanopoulos asking if O’Reilly might run for political office as the man in the middle.
On health care, O’Reilly made the case why both sides of the aisle aren’t working well together:
The ideologues on both sides smell blood. Obama’s got to watch his left-wing flank. They’re still screaming about a pubic option. Nancy Pelosi’s still jumping up and down about a public option. Hey Nancy, not happening, okay? Not gonna happen! And then on the other side the real hardcore right says, ‘We’ve got him on the ropes, he’s gonna go down! President Obama, he’s gonna go, why help him? November is just around the corner!’
Stephanopoulos said O’Reilly had recently started sounding “more and more like Ross Perot” as he was “reaching out to this angry middle.”
As for Palin, O’Reilly thinks the new Fox News contributor “wants to run.” But, he says, “Sarah Palin needs to go to college. Political college. World Affairs college. And she is. She’s hired a bunch of advisers.”
And despite playing it down the middle for ABC’s morning show, broadcast TV audience, he won’t be running for elected office. “I have more power doing what I’m doing then getting involved with the political process,” he said. “Unless the Chinese are going to back me.”
