CBS Announces End Date for Letterman’s Late Show

David Letterman‘s final Late Show will air on May 20th of next year, CBS announced today. Letterman announced his departure this April and will be replaced by Stephen Colbert.

Colbert is leaving his Comedy Central show just a week from Thursday, and so will have several months to prep his Late Show before Letterman hits the road. CBS did not give a specific date for Colbert’s debt.

Letterman’s May departure date means that Colbert will start just a few months after James Corden takes over The Late Late Show starting in March. That show’s current host, Craig Ferguson, is bowing out next Friday, just a day after Colbert ends The Colbert Report.
