Conway: Trump’s Administration Will Allow Daily Access for the Media

Kellyanne Conway said on Thursday that the press will still have access to Donald Trump once he takes office.

The former campaign manager-turned-presidential counselor gave a Thursday morning interview to ABC, where she fielded questions about why Trump has gone so long without holding a press conference. David Muir noted that president-elects typically hold media events in the first few days after their victory, and that Trump frequently hammered Hillary Clinton about her lack of press availability during the election.

Conway retorted that Trump has been focused on ironing out his Cabinet and his various transition efforts. She also insisted that “This will be a traditional White House in the sense you will have a great deal of press availability on a daily basis and you’ll have a president who continues to be engaged with the press.”

Trump’s relationship with the press has been complicated to say the least, and there have been concerns that his lack of press conferences reflect a disinterest in transparency. These concerns have been exacerbated since Trump staffers like future Chief of Staff Reince Priebus suggested that Trump might get rid of daily White House press briefings.
