Evangelist Bryan Fischer Furious At ‘Pompous, Arrogant Windbag’ O’Reilly For ‘Bible Thumping’ Remark

On his AFA radio show Wednesday afternoon, evangelist Bryan Fischer tore into Fox host Bill O’Reilly for his recent statement that same-sex marriage opponents have no compelling argument aside from “thumping the Bible.” Clearly incensed by the remarks, Fischer called the Fox host a “pompous, arrogant windbag” who is mocking and insulting ordinary Americans who believe the Bible’s words.

In his anti-O’Reilly rant, the radio host blasted the cable news star for being “blindly ignorant” of non-biblical arguments made by gay marriage opponents. However, Fischer conceded, their opposition remains largely rooted in the Bible. “Have we thumped our Bibles? Absolutely,” he said, “Because we believe it is the revealed word of God.”

“A lot of the times,” Fischer said of O’Reilly, “[he] just comes across as a pompous, arrogant windbag.” The radio host added that by saying such things about gay marriage opponents, the Fox host had engaged in this “insult, this ridicule, this mockery of ordinary Americans who do believe in the Bible as the revealed word of God.”

Fischer concluded that O’Reilly’s words implied that same-sex marriage opponents are simply “a bunch of neanderthal, redneck, hillbilly Bible-bangers. That is essentially what he is saying were are.”

“He’s insulting us to our face,” he added.

Fischer joins other prominent conservative radio voices like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and Laura Ingraham in condemning O’Reilly’s “Bible thumping” remark.
