Fox News Personalities Take Opposite Sides Of California Senate Race

Two potential 2012 GOP presidential nominees, and current Fox News employees, are in a very public disagreement when it comes to who best to represent the Republicans in the California Senate race (aka the “Demon Sheep” race).

Yes, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee have made their CA Senate choices – and they’re on opposite sides of the primary.

Last week Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina (and got some surprising heat from the tea partiers for the choice). Now, as Vanity Fair points out, Huckabee is very publicly coming out in support of her challenger, tea party favorite Chuck Devore:

Mike Huckabee, who’s well poised to run (possibly against Palin) for president in 2012, responded to the ensuing controversy by supporting Chuck DeVore in as conspicuously garish a fashion as possible.

Go check out Huckabee’s Twitter feed. He is all in on this Devore thing. And to think, just a couple months ago Huckabee and Palin were hosting shows on Fox News right after each other.

> Update: An emailer (and the HucksArmy on Twitter) corrected the claim that Palin endorsed Fiorina first – it was actually Huckabee endorsing Devore that occurred last month. But Huckabee only recently changed his Twitter background.

We’ve done the Huckabee vs. Palin media star comparison before, but it was before Palin officially joined Fox News. Now that they’re colleagues, and potential presidential candidates, seeing such a public disagreement is a bigger story.

The California Senate primary is June 8 – unless the Demon Sheep step in.

The loons on the left are always confused when conservatives are not in lock step like the Obamakins.
    I like DeVore.

Well said Gordon. I dont know DeVore but if Huckabee likes him, its good enough for me.

  • TylerDurden

Poor Steve- the Congressional Black Caucus supported Hillary Clinton, not BHO

    Nice try.

  • http://mediaite.com Steve Krakauer

Steve? What are you referring to?

  • TylerDurden

You are trying to imply that all Republicans think alike and it didn’t work!

…are in a very public disagreement when it comes to who best to represent the Republicans in the California Senate race (aka the “Demon Sheep” race.”

I am certainly no Republican, thanks be to God, but this is a Republican primary. All the Marys in Heaven, what business is it of Huckleberry or the Drop Out Governor of Alaska, or even FOX News, who wins the primary? What happened to the old Raygun Commandment regarding intraparty endorsements?

  • JunkJunk

SteveK is a part of the vast leftwing conspiracy. And this post proves it!

At least, according to the Gordon Bloyers of the world…

  • The Real Royal King

Isn’t Gordon Blowers the man standing to the left of Raygun in one of those vanity pictures, and doesn’t he have some internet show? Or is it cable access?

  • Teabagger

I don’t know who Carly Fiorina is but if Palin likes her, I know shes a no nonsense American that stands for the people so that’s good enough for me.

Devore must be the lame stream medias choice.

  • http://mediaite.com Steve Krakauer

Ha really? I’m trying to imply that? Honestly, Tyler you live in a fantasy world. We’re not out to get you, I assure you.

Steve you were trying to act as if the Dems were monolithic while Repubs weren’t.

You lost. Go back to your fantasy world.

It doesn’t matter whom either of these neo-cons support since Tom Campbell is going to take the primary and, ultimately, knock Boxer out of her seat.

Just for the sake of accuracy, HuckPAC endorsed Devore BEFORE Palin endorsed Fiorina.

The story makes it seem as though Huckabee only endorsed Devore as some kind of response to Palin’s endorsement of Fiorina. While Huckabee did RE-EMPHASIZE his support of Devore after Palin came out for Fiorina, it’s not like he just got the idea to do so after Palin had made her choice.

Hey “NewWorldRadical”, Gov. Huckabee isn’t a neo-con. He isn’t even a CFR member…he led the charge against the globalist law-of-the-sea treaty. So check your sources before you start labeling people.

Tom Campbell is a big government guy. He supported the Prop. 1A massive tax increase last year. Check out:

Tom Campbell also supported the big government bank bailouts. Campbell has repeatedly refused to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Oh and this article has it wrong, Huckabee endorsed DeVore about 2 week ago…before Palin did anything.

Well, first Patrick is right Huck endorsed Devore before Palin endorsed anyone for starters, and I’m not sure what that insinuation was even about.

I also don’t know what Palin is thinking, but I support Devore and think Huckabee is right. At first when I read this link I thought it said Huckabee supported Fiorina and wondered what happened to him! But I see I just misunderstood the brief description.

I suspect that Palin is paying back the McCain team out of misplaced loyalty. I’m disappointed about that, but Huckabee is right on anyway.

    Who is this ‘Raygun’ person?

    KING- go back to HP.

What is a vanity picture? You mean the one of me and Gov. Reagan taken on the tarmac of the Monterey airport in 1976. That was the day I was the official photographer and press liason for Reagan campaign. You mean that one? Maybe you mean the one of me and First Lady Nancy Reagan on the tarmac at naval airport just south of S.F. on the day I was a press aide for Mrs. Reagan.

Once again, Governor Mike Huckabee is showing himself to be a man of great wisdom, experience and class. While many in the political field scramble around with their checker boards, Huckabee is calmly playing chess. He is a true social and fiscal conservative and quite honestly seems to be in a class all his own. He does not follow the party template and that is a refreshing change from what we’ve seen for years on end. Sarah Palin may have a role to play somewhere in conservatism, but it’s not POTUS in my estimation. Chuck DeVore is by far the stellar candidate in this race and Mike did endorse him long before Palin had said a word. Huckabee has also endorsed many other excellent candidates all over the country. It would not be fair (or possible) to attempt a comparison between Governor Huckabee and Sarah Palin. There is no comparison.

For those of you not familiar with the “Demon Sheep” ad, be sure to watch it after watching Monty Python. It’s a perfect example of an epic fail political ad, but it’s so bad it’s good if you don’t take it seriously. Perhaps the ad makes sense if you are high on Mendicino county’s number one cash crop at the time. But seriously, this ad is just one more example of Carly’s bad judgement. Another example would be her less than stellar performance at HP as CEO. I like Sarah, but not her pick. It also says McCain’s judgement as picking her for an economic advisor wasn’t a great move either.

  • Steadfast

Gov. Huckabee is backing the best conservative choice in this race, just like he has done in many races across the country. Clearly Huck’s decision to endorse DeVore is based upon his stand on key issues and a proven record to go along with that. Palin appears to be more interested in payback and doing the politically expedient thing. When you put DeVore’s RECORD next to Fiorina’s, there is no question who deserves an endorsement.

If Palin had followed Huck’s lead, they could have worked TOGETHER to help DeVore win the nomination.

I also appreciate Huckabee’s focus on 2010 and his efforts to help candidates not just in federal races, but in local/state ones as well. I’m pleased that this race is getting some national recognition – I am hopeful that will help DeVore.

It’s already been pointed out above, but I will state it again. The author is incorrect – Huckabee endorsed DeVore 2 weeks ago – BEFORE Palin endorsed Fiorina.
