Here’s Your Chance Joe Buck! A Few Minutes With the President

obama_7-15Joe Buck is one of the most polarizing announcers in all of sports, and now he’s trying to get serious on a new HBO show (that Artie Lange has already ruined). But this should help his cred: an interview with President Barack Obama!

Well, it was a few minutes with Pres. Obama in the booth at last night’s MLB All-Star Game, in which Buck and Tim McCarver got to lob some softballs toward the leader of the free world.

Here’s a short play-by-play of the exchange:

• Buck asked him about his decision to wear a White Sox jacket: “Most of the time politicians will try to play it down the middle, but there’s not a lot of Cub love coming from you.”

• He teased the President for being more of a basketball guy.

• The President told a story about getting macadamia nuts in the locker room.

• The highlight: After a discussion as to why the National League is struggling in All-Star games, Buck said, “No bailout in place for the National League?” “We’re out of money,” joked Obama, as McCarver cracked up.

Here’s some of the exchange:

Of course, there was also the issue of the first pitch. It was an average effort, made far worse by the terrible FOX camera work:

Shuster: ‘Fox Is Far More Conservative Overall Than MSNBC Could Ever Be Liberal’

video

We've seen today what many in the media world (and even Press Secretary Robert Gibbs) thought of the highly-rated Bret Baier exclusive interview with Pres. Obama. There's one more from earlier in the day - MSNBC's David Shuster. He also had some general thoughts on his network and Baier's.

Scott Brown On House Health Care Bill: “The Biggest Problem…Is Its Lack Of Transparency”

video

Last night when Chris Matthews discussed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's idea of a "Deem and Pass" to get the health reform bill pushed through Congress, his main concern was that it would open up Democrats to criticism of using evasive tactics. And he wasn't wrong: Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown was on The Situation Room tonight, already chomping at the bit to discuss the "backroom deals....political chicanery and parliamentary maneuvers" that the House majority was using to "ram this bill through."
