Jack Black Embodies Shane Smith in Yet Another VICE Parody
The Onion isn’t the only comedy outlet that has decided to mock all things VICE. Just days after the trailer dropped for the new web series EDGE, we have our first look at “DRONEZ,” which is just one of many sketches to be featured on the new IFC show, Documentary Now!
Created by and starring SNL alums Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, with executive producer Seth Meyers, Documentary Now! is set to premiere Thursday night, August 20. “We’re all fans of documentary film and this allows us to use that love of documentary film and combine it with comedy to present a sort of unique take on the form,” the three men said in a statement when the project was first announced earlier this year.
Down to the graphics, fonts and percussive music, “DRONEZ” perfectly captures everything that is ridiculous about VICE co-founder Shane Smith’s introductions to segments on the media company’s HBO show. And the performance by Jack Black’s comically-large goatee alone should probably win some sort of award.
