Larry King Gulf Telethon Raises Money, But Sees Shockingly Low Ratings

• We noted yesterday that CNN’s Larry King Gulf telethon could be considered a win even if the ratings were not strong – but “not strong” is a vast understatement.

The show averaged just 600,000 total viewers, 4th on cable news (slightly beat HLN in the demo for 3rd) for a little better than half of MSNBC’s average. Compared to King’s Haiti telethon almost exactly six months ago, the ratings were down more than 40% in both categories.

• Bill O’Reilly had the top show, again, in both categories (with more than three million total viewers). Keith Olbermann had the top non-FNC show in both categories.
