NBC Apologizes To Michele Bachmann For ‘Disrespectful’ Jimmy Fallon Song

video

Following Michele Bachmann’s calls for an apology from NBC after she walked on to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to the tune of Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch”, the network’s vice president for late night programming, Doug Vaughan, offered a letter of personal regret for the incident.

Brian Bakst from the Associated Press reports that Vaughan reached out to the Republican presidential candidate, calling the playing of the off-color song “not only unfortunate but also unacceptable,” giving his “sincerest apologies” and said the band had been “severely reprimanded” for their actions, without giving specifics.

Previously, Fallon had personally tweeted that he was honored to have Bachmann as a guest on his show and he was sorry for the “intro mess”:

Alice Stewart, a spokesperson for Bachmann’s campaign said the Minnesota Congresswoman had talked to Fallon and he was sorry the incident had happened.

“He was extremely nice and friendly and offered his apology, and she accepted it,” Stewart said. “It’s just unfortunate that someone had to do something so disrespectful.”

Finally, a real apology for an, as stated, unacceptable action.

Give credit to the execs at NBC for doing the right thing, in the end.  Fallon should follow with the same, simple statement that what happened was simply unacceptable.

NOW’s silence has been a bit shocking, but hopefully I’m just unaware of their actions in this matter.  I will assume it, because as a woman, I don’t care about the political party, but I do care that female political candidates are treated without overt sexism.  Words like ‘slut’, b***, and wh*** are extreme and unacceptable.

  • Sean68

Bachmann is invited onto a tv show and they insult her; but the way this story is being reported by mediaite and others is as if she’s being unreasonable for feeling insulted. I truly think the “journalists” at mediaite view this story as follows: What’s that crazy Michelle Bachmann up to now?!

  • Anonymous

None of this would have been an issue had the drummer not offered up a clue to the song title after the incident, in fact I’d say 95% of the people who lean to the right, watch Fox News or vote republican had a clue about the song or had heard of Fishbone before this incident.  Had he not touched it….maybe for like week, there would be no issue whatsoever.

    Guess that chapter’s over…moving on.

  • http://mediamatters.org/ Leedog

Well, after reviewing my position on the incident… I think giving her an apology was appropriate!!

  • Concerned Citizen

I would love to know what the “severely reprimanded” the band got. Probably something like a pat on the back and “good one!”.

  • Todd

Not a fan of Bachmann but a apology was needed. This was junk at the lowest level.

  • Lenny

I disagree. I think she was insulted and deserved an apology from Jimmy Fallon.I think she pushed the matter way above were it needed to be by asking for an apology from the execs at NBC. The execs at NBC have nothing to do with the intro song and in my opinion she was pushing for attention-which is what politicians do so I dont blame her -but it was overkill. What I didnt like from her and I think hurt her case, was how she brought up FLOTUS and blaming the “elite” media.

  • Anonymous

    She wins again!

  • Anonymous

    Severely reprimanded….HA.

Didn’t NBC fire Don Imus?  This band will continue to play….and probably did get some high fives behind the scene.  NBC just once again shows its double standard.

The apology is a small step forward, but that the network thinks it can get away with treating conservative women like dirt is becasue the liberal women’s organizations permit it with their silence.  Remember, they were silent when a group of people wearing “Sarah Palin is a C….” turned up at various Obama events.

    NBC – Nothing but crap.

Questlove is a black racists and his racism showed when Bachmann was on the show.

Couldn’t agree with you more, Tina. I am sick and tired of the crude, disrespectful, puerile behavior of “the left” overall and NBC, in particular. I can only assume that the majority of these people had no mothers- or, at the very least, no parents who gave a flip about their offspring’s ethics and behavior.

Must societal norms be set by the “lost boys” or is it simply that we cannot rise above the lowest common denominator any longer?

I’m a bleeding heart liberal and a huge fan of The Roots and although it was very clever and not necessarily a misnomer, it was in poor taste. Questlove should have just kept it tongue-in-cheek joke for those “in the know.” or not done it at all.  With that being said, well played my friend.

  • Anonymous

Common decency always wins in the end.

A light touch is best in humor and a heavyhanded approach usually lands with a thud.

  • Anonymous

Why understate it with the “If someone had done this to MO they would have been fired”. If someone had done it to Michelle Obama he would have been arrested, and he would have been beaten to death in jail, and liberals would say “he deserved it.”

  • joe

now when when will Michelle B, Fox News, Limbaugh, Colter, Newt, Mitt and the rest apologize for their hate, misrepresentation of fact and salacious language?

You know this for a fact?  I’m impressed.  Your mental powers and gift of seeing exactly what would have happened are amazing!  By the way, you missed a comma or two in your statement.

  • Anonymous

He should have kept it tongue-in-cheek, I agree.  The fact that he felt the need to spell it out for the fans was the downfall of the joke.   I still contend that had he not done that, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

Had they played “Lying Eyes” by The Eagles, that would have been more obvious…but I think the result from the right would still be the same….I can hear Gretchen Carlson saying “What exactly were they implying on Jimmy Fallon’s show?”

  • Anonymous

If you insult black women who play basketball and personally apologize to them, you get fired.

If you insult conservative women and don’t apologize to them, you get “severely reprimanded”.

NBC’s consistency is pretty apparent here. So much for Comcast turning that place around, it’s no wonder they’re still fourth in the ratings.

I think that’s reasonable. The reference to Michelle Obama (while undoubtedly accurate) was a bit of an incongruity. If I were advising her, I tell, “Look, this was so tacky that you’re in a position to garner sympathy from people who generally despise you and those who will defend this [and there have been many] will show themselves for the gigantic assholes they are. But know this: Don’t overplay your hand!”

  • Anonymous

  • NBCInsider

That is not a real apology guys! Doug Vaughan is at best a mid level exec at NBC. They all have VP titles, but his boss is the head of the dept., who would traditionally be the lowestlevel person NBC or any broadcast network would use to issue an apology. More typically, this would come from the head of the entertainment division or be official from the publicity department and released as an official apology.

Trust me, no senior exec cared enough to do this so they said “Doug you do it” to make it go away. You can bet that if this were a highprofile Democrat, Doug VaughanVaughan would notyou be speakingthe on behalfthe of thethe corporation. -

  • Anonymous

Not sure how…but okay.  However, that has zero bearing on the topic….and he clearly can’t be that much of one if he and his band are so willing to play on “the white man’s” network.

  • Sean68

I doubt he would have used that song to introduce a black woman. Admittedly, I’m going on gut instinct here. Does he worship Malcolm X? Does he refer to cartoonish racist Louis Farrakhan respectfully as “Minister”? Probably. :)

  • NBCInsider

    Don’t be fooled.

Doug Vaughan is a low level (really mid level) exec. Most senior NBC corporate execs haven’t a clue who he is.

This was tossed off to him to make it go away, whereas any real apology from the network would have been issued by execs 2-3 levels higher than him or in an official manner by NBC’s publicity department.

  • Sean68

That’s exactly right. Basically, if Fallon doesn’t fire them, he was in on the joke. Or he’s a pussy. Take your pick.

A few months ago, Mark Halperin called the President a “dick” on air (I believe Mediate wrote about it because I think that’s where I read it).  Almost immediately, he was indefinitely suspended by the network, and that was after Halperin delivered on on-air apology to the President and the audience.

Three or four months later, the band leader plays a walk-out song for a sitting US Congressman that’s titled “Lyin’ Ass Bitch”, and it takes DAYS for any kind of real apology.  That apology is not delivered on-air, and no one is suspended.

    Yep, there’s no “media bias”.

    Puhleeze.

If this had been done to Nancy Pelosi or Debbie Wasserman-Schulz, people would have been fired.  The silence from NOW is deafening – which of course highlights that they’re not a woman’s advocacy group, they’re a liberal agenda advocacy group.

  • Anonymous

Yes, Mediaite did write about it, quite extensively in fact.  It’s interesting that Jay Carney admits that he called MSNBC to complain, and almost immediately, Halperin was suspended even though an apology had already been issued.

    >> NBCInsider: “Don’t be fooled. Doug Vaughan is a low level (really mid level) exec.
Most senior NBC corporate execs haven’t a clue who he is.”

Insider is right — this apology is a total crock. It’s not as if Michelle Bachmann is just any run of the mill actor/actress/musician type of guest plugging something. Regardless of what side of the political aisle you lean towards, she’s still a high profile Presidential candidate, which normally warrants some level of respect. Hey, at least she makes headlines on a daily basis and got her face on the cover of Newsweek. When was the last time Jimmy Fallon or his brain-dead drummer ever managed that?

And the drummer IS the person still deserving the most condemnation, though the media seems to conveniently forget that, to a large degree because those who make up the Liberal press don’t want to put one of their own in the spotlight. In other words, what you REALLY have here is the Liberal press sort of snickering to the side, winking in compliance and essentially saying to the drummer “Hey, good one, dude! You really nailed that bitch!”

And as much as the drummer tried to instantly shrug things aside by saying it was all meant in “fun”, as Sean68 noted in another post here, do you honestly believe the drummer would have EVER cued up that same song for a Liberal female politician strolling out on stage? As Michelle Obama or Nancy Pelosi or Claire McCaskill or Maxine Waters came out?

Hell, if they played it for Maxine Waters at least then the music would have been appropriate and 100% TRUE given that she IS an actual liar and crook in Congress!

As far as the apology, trust me, IF the network REALLY meant it, there’s absolutely, positively NO QUESTION that a higher level executive would have issued it. First, because there’s no shortage of suits at the network. Second, Hollywood suits notoriously have giant-sized egos, and any one of them would have LOVED to get their name on a high profile press release like this, just so they could feel more important.

But finally, if NBC really meant it — just for pure P.R. purposes — they would have wanted the apology to be seen (or at least perceived) as coming from the HIGHEST level possible, to clearly show that management WAS stepping in and taking charge in a responsible way.

But did they do that? No. Instead they just had some mid-level guy, that no one has ever heard of, issue a statement so the network could say “There. Happy now? There’s your damn apology. Now f*ck off. We’re NBC and we know which way THIS network leans!”

  • Steve85

which has to do f**k all with another republican playing the victim.

although in this case she might have a point.  she deserves an apology for that song reminding everybody what a lyin a** b*tch she is.

  • Sean68

There’s something imperceptibly douchy about mediaite and its hack farm. I can’t exactly define it, but it’s little things. Like putting disrespectful in quotes. I mean, yes that was the word that was used, but are mediaite’s drones so illiterate they don’t know what that implies? Oh, silly me, of course they do. Which is why they did it.

  • Rex the Wonder God

Yeah, I’m sort of torn on this.

On the one hand, she was a “guest”, invited on, even though it was to serve her electoral interests, and this is not at all how one should treat a guest. On the other hand, it wasn’t msnbc or Fallon who chose to do this (Look at Fallon’s face when she was first sitting down; he knew what the tune was and was trying to think quick about the first and later implications; the fact that he was able to just set all that aside and continue with the interview as if it never happened is pretty impressive, except for the implication that it may have meant he had less room to confront her during the interview with some tough points about the messages in her campaign.).

On the other, it actually was more than a little clever AND she and her campaign AND her political party all deserve it, that is, the “lyin’ ass” part, not the “bitch” part. She IS a liar, which she proves time and again with those untraceable unsourced anecdotes about certain innoculations, with her claim to being a “tax expert” and a “constitutional expert” when she was a very low level functionary in the IRS for a very short period of time who never actually did anything, or even tried to. And her campaign, to the extent it’s erected on religious themes, is based on superstition and lies. And both she and her campaign are in a party where the context and the crowds actually DEMAND increasingly implausible lies to be recited instead of facing truth. But in the end we really didn’t need the house band playing a Fishbone song to remind us of all that; those who saw it, saw it, those who don’t, won’t.

Still pretty funny, even though wrong. And it certainly will be memorable for both reasons.

  • Rex the Wonder God

Doesn’t mean Questlove would not have trashed Jon Corzine if it was HIM who was coming out on stage; mind you, the crowd would have cheered life crazy.

Corzine’s policy record as governor contains an awful lot of really good stuff, some terrific positives. The MFGlobal story is still coming out, so we can’t say now what the facts really are, but even at this stage, two things:

    1. Corzine has ALWAYS been known as an extremely ‘aggressive’ trader, a big risk taker, and risk is risk: sometimes it bites you in the butt, big time. This ends his career in that world, and maybe a big part of his future freedom as well.

    2. MFGlobal very much LOOKS like it’s the canary in the coal mine on this – that other investment banks and hedge funds and merchant banksters have been doing the same things (risking customer deposits on Euro currency gambles), and it’s just that they’ve been able to absorb the losses or, even more scary, have not had to report them yet. The Treasury Department right now is conducted so-called ‘stress tests’, a fake-out term for looking into Goldman Sachs and Morgan Chase and Bank of America and AIG and others to see if any of THEM have been doing this as well, and if so what the level of exposure is.

I think we’re in for some very very very bad news on this front, and very soon. I think to some extent ALL the merchant banks have been doing this, and ALL of them are therefore directly exposed to the same shortfall as MFGlobal has been found to have. And I think THIS time the issue can’t be resolved or delayed with a TARP type bailout – we may be forced into nationalizing the banking system, that is, doing a ‘bank holiday’ for an extended period to sort out a new regulatory regime.

  • Rex the Wonder God

Good point, but there’s a reason for that: this is msnbc’s way of saying, hey, we gave up a lot of editorial control to Jimmy in the first place, and it’s a COMEDY show for crying out loud; and in turn Jimmy gave up a lot of editorial control to the house band. It’s not US, it’s not msnbc that did this, so we don’t feel the need to issue a sincere apology; and it’s not even Fallon; it’s the house band, and we don’t think they are in the mood to apologize for something they thought was an expression protected under the First Amendment, rightly or wrongly.

(I think it WAS protected, as against Bachmann; but not as against msnbc or Fallon, and either would be legally justified in dismissing the house band.)

  • Frod

And Medaite’s ugly, slow-motioned transition into Stormfront.org continues unabated. Here’s a quote from another thread tonight “So?  He calls a queer a queer.  Homosexuals ARE mentally sick!”

It’s seriously ugly and people should be horrified by it.  And the fact that posts will be deleted for inclusion of the word kunt or phuq but posts like the above-mentioned wander casually under the radar without fear.of censorship raises serious questions about Mediaite’s modus operandi.

I;ve never ever heard of this song till this happened.  Who cares what song she came out to Jimmy’s Stage. Who gives a crap?

  • PattyLikes

Ha ha. Terrorism and communism are a laughing matter aren’t they big brother.

  • Anonymous

Yes, NBC on behalf of the band, should have apologized.  Now that they have, it is time for Michele to move on.  I thought she did really good on the show and I’m not a Michele fan – I don’t support ANY of her ideas as a candidate, but I don’t think she even knew what the music was until her staff told her.  Otherwise, if  it was something so horrendous, why didn’t she say something to Jimmy Fallon?
    Time to move on Michele.

  • Anonymous

What else did you and she expect them to do?  go bow at her feet?  she didn’t even know the name of the song or she would have said something to Jimmy Fallon when they were talking on the show.  She needs to not only give it up, but she needs to give up on the idea that she will make it to New Hampshire.

  • Anonymous

“she’s still a high profile Presidential candidate”

Bullshit, this is a book tour in a last ditch effort to cash in on the fleeting name recognition.

  • Zona992007

Meanwhile, Romney purposly put out an ad that was totally misleading saying, yup, we did it.  So what.

  • Anonymous

what goes around comes around – you guys did the same, but that was o.k. but you sure don’t like the republicans taking a page out of your playbook.

  • Tolerate Nothing

Great. Now NBC needs to apologize to America for enabling the election of this white guilt, affirmative action, social experiment homeboy in the White House. Then have all of their liberal talking heads spray paint their faces black, they owe it to colored people.

  • Anonymous

You owe it to the Black people to talk with a little more respect. Michele and the 7 dwarfs by the way are not what I would call a good alternative.

Were you born with that chip on your shoulder or is a resent growth?  Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Uh, news flash. Barack Obama was elected President by American voters, not NBC.

  • keninkansas

Uh, nbc had his bcack throughout the whole campaign as they do now. Although, he did give them a nice bail-out deal so they kind of work for him, now.

Crossroads GPS Launches New TV Ads on Economy
    who is it?
    Answer:
Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies was established in the United States early in 2010 as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation.[1] The significance of the “grassroots” in American political arena is of a grounds-upward populist movement. Failing to disclose funding sources, Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies has been referred to as an example of astroturfing.
Karl Rove, the strategist behind the career of George W. bush has been a successful fund-raiser for Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies; according to The New York Times the corporation, exempt from federal taxes, “has spent millions of dollars on television commercials attacking Democrats in key Senate races across the country;” unlike Political action committees, it does not have to reveal details of its donors.

They recently ran a multimillion dollar ad in several swing state pitting Barack Obama against. Bill Clinton on taxes. It was much like the Romney add taking shorten sound bites leaving the watcher to believe that Obama intent is to raise tax for all and Clinton was against any taxes.  Washington Post gave this ad a Three Pinocchios rating out their highest lying rating of  four.

I just thought it was intersting for  someone on Fox’s payroll, i.e Karl Rove to be involved in such underhandedness and NBC is doing th apologizing.

  • Anonymous

I would suggest then that she stay away from late night Comedy or worst yet the Bill Maher show. I’m sure in Bill’s case HBO would not be so quick to pass on an  apology

  • Anonymous

And the conservative press doesn’t do the same damm thing.  Get real.

  • Anonymous

I was thinking the same of Michele.

  • Darr247

They apologized because what they should have played her on with is Kevin Wilson’s song
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8sxk4xNnxw

Oh, well…  there’s always the next time she wants to come on and do the routine her staff wrote for her.

I swear he is trying to say something, I just can’t ever tell what the hell is it.

One thing Obama did ensure for the rest of the country—that is that
NOBODY—Nobody in the press CAN EVER, EVER question a candidate’s
credentials (or lack thereof) for the office of President-–seeing
as other than being a “community organizer” and a 1.5 year US
Sentator–-Obama has never had a legit job or any legit
accomplishments in the real world. While I don’t like Bachmann, she has
certainly more experience and more qualifications to lead our country than
Obama….and that my friends, is sad.

Good for NBC and Jimmy. Maybe the cads on LSD/PMSnbc might learn a thing or two from their big brother. However, with the likes of that crew…from Morning Schmo to the last word with the 5’4″ idiot o’Donnell but, I suspect that is like asking a skunk to not spray you when you accidently come up on the smelly creature. Anyway good for Brian Bakst and Jimmy Fallon.

What do you expect from a Communist party?      Insults -  name calling -  spewing HATE – Racist – Radicals – they are all good for  NOTHING and  NOTHING IS ALL THEY ARE WORTH.  They can’t defend dumbo ears for his LOSING record – so they resort to NAME CALLING – SPEWING THEIR HATE -  INSULTING – RACIST – RADICAL PIGS.  SHE SHOULD NOT – REPEAT N O T    ACCEPT THEIR APOLOGY.    LET THEM EAT IT.

  • Farnsworth

Imagine if she refused to accept their apology. Absolutely nothing would happen. Can you even imagine
    such a thing?

  • Anonymous

Is ABC next?  Whoppie called her a “bonehead” this week.
What is with these hateful people on the liberal media networks?  Honestly — Whoopie, Fallon, others….their hatred for good conservative women is palpable.

Imagine the outrage here at mediaite if the “bonehead” comment were out of the mouth of a conservative and directed to Michelle Obama…..mediaite staffers would be screaming for a resignation or a firing.
But alas, treat conservative women poorly and you get a high five and some verbal scolding (tongue in cheek no doubt).

  • Jonz58

Those words reflect our society’s decay and are becoming more acceptable every day. Personally, I will start watching Jimmy Fallon’s show a little more regularly.

Why should anyone apologize to a dishonest, mean spirited bigot like Bachmann for anything?

When is SHE going to apologize for insulting ALL of black America, and lampooning the reality of their past, or making a complete joke out of Americas slave history in order to insult and attack monogamous gay couples?

    The answer?

    NEVER!

Because Michele Bachman is a dishonest, disgusting, klan rallying bigot.

Any idiot who is so daft as to seriously believe that slaves lived in “stable families” (as opposed to having families broken up at auction) SHOULD NO BE ALLOWED NEAR ANY POSITION OF AUTHORITY.

Michele is as bigoted as she is negligent, and I applaud Fallons band for calling her EXACTLY what she is.

Shame on her, and shame of the GOP for forcing that idiotic, lying, blood sucking weasel onto the American people.

  • Anonymous

So what about Bachman pledging herself to an antigay marriage edict which claims (in the  most bigoted, cold blooded, revisionist language) that Black Americans lived in “better, more stable families” during slavery?

I know and appreciate that you both arent fans of hers, but dont you see anything “low” about her own behavior, or at least meriting a strong response from black Americans? Republicans have such double standards.  They show up to their protests armed to the teeth, and making open threats against standing politicians, screaming about their dumb “big government” hallucinations.  Meanwhile, they applaud the police assaults on OWS. They claim they arent bigots, and scream bloody murder at any suggestion of racism in their pack, but then they go and happily indulge this kind of madness—. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR6Rj6P_WPYThey lampoon the Holocaust (even going so far as to accuse actual Holocaust survivors of being “nazis”, all for the sake of political smearing), denigrate gay Americans, and  are trying to rewrite history to make it look like Blacks had “great, stable family lives” under slavery.   Their are plenty of commenters here on Mediaite who actively embrace that lie. And Bachmann herself is an open advocate for that lie.  She wants it put into law and written into school books.   She herself supports the idea that blacks lived “better” under slavery than “under Americas fist African American president.”  I live in Minnesota, and I deal with her voting bloc everyday.  Please dont tell me that that pack of bigoted lunatics deserve any respect for their disgusting lies and unconscionable behavior. Bachmann gets a pass for the most depraved bigotry, one to which she literally has proudly PLEDGED herself.  I would say Fallons band responded with a more than appropriate jingle… one which fits Bachmanns cracked, leathery foot like a shoe. Why should they remain silent when she has no problem trying to embed her own hateful prejudices into law?  Why should she get a pass? Its just like GOP congressmen getting passes for holding medical coverage for 9-11 First Responders as hostage to tax breaks for the wealthy, and the media (except John Stewart) totally censors the story.Nevertheless, somehow, “the left” is to blame for a group of black musicians righteously responding to Bachmanns ugly, racist, small minded, revisionist bigotry with a VERY well deserved and more than appropriate song. Look, just because the gun slinging Klansmen in Woodbury voted her in, doesnt mean she isnt accountable for her own words and actions, nor does it exempt her from some degree of protest. Bachmann got the very least of what she deserved, because she is a liar, and a very cruel bigot to boot.  AND she needs to apologize to both black and gay America, before anyone should apologize to her. In a more just world, she would be made to live among the people whose history she maligns, and whose  present she ignores.

  • Fiction001

BORN WITH IT, YOU DIG IT? I owe black people jacksh it. You owe white people a visit to a psychiatrist to get to the bottom of your self hate. Liberals hate thanksgiving, they say the pilgrims fu cked the injuns.  Remember?

  • Farnsworth

As much as your retreat to wussy victimhood would like it to be, this has nothing to do with her being conservative or a woman. It has to do with her being one of the most ignorant and irresponsible public servants in the history of public service. Also she’s a theocrat and profoundly homophobic and kind of batshit crazy and deserves everything she is getting and I hope it continues until she disappears from public life.

  • Anonymous

The funny thing is, had the band never called attention to the song, they could have avoided this altogether and just say it was pure coincidence.

Hey lane1, you give these liberal ass clowns at NBC a real easy pass now don’t you?  What punks like Jimmy Fallon, to the pigs who comprise this black elite musical group “Roots” to the director of the show pulled off was totaly unacceptable, unnessesary, pointless, disrespectful and stupid!  How far do we have to go?  If it were Paul Shafer and the white dominated Late Nite Orchestra pulling a racist, sexist stunt like this over at CBS to Michelle Obama or any other minority female with the same song would mean total chaos and dismissal.  Now, place a 5’2″ powerhouse of a caucasian conservative congresswoman like Michele Bachmann in this scenario and it’s open game with no real reprocussions.  No heads roll, nothing but an empty, insincere blurb stating their regrets. What a waste of space these NBC people are..

Hey Steve85!  The song would’ve been more appropriate for that punk ass bitch band Roots to play this song as the intro for the presidente. He’s the king of frauds, lies, and asses.  We know that would never happen.  I wouldn’t support any stunt like this for anyone or anytime. Did you know we have 57 states in this country according to BHO.  Seems like everyone on the left didn’t seem to be bothered at such a ridiculous statement from an alien now acting as president. There’s so many more destructive statements and misconstrued facts this president has made along with absolute destructive ideology

NBC screwed up. There was no reason for the apology. Jimmy Fallon sufficiently made it. The fact of the matter is that if you’ve followed Bachmann over the years, she is in fact “A Lyin Ass”. Her own senior staff had said that she’s pathelogical liar.

Michelle Obama is not running for anything. She is publicly promoting better eating habits.
Which “bonehead” is likely to do the most damage?
The one who only uses one “l” in her name.

People underestimate Michele Bachmann. That is one of the reasons this unfortunate incident has happened on Jimmy Fallon. Ms. Bachmann is an elected Congresswoman, a presidential candidate, member of House Intelligence and tax attorney. I think anyone that insults her takes a chance because they do not put politicians in these critical positions unless they are highly analytic and brilliant. Why  this man actually got involved in this kind of insult is unknown to me. It is a terrible mistake for just about anyone to do something like that involving a national figure. In my book, Jimmy Fallon is a young man on his way up and an entertainer with immaculate character. Not only did he have no motive to plan this but he is way too intelligent to have any interest in harming his talk show.We also should be aware of the stinging and inappropriate humor leveled at Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and the Tea Party by the left media may have contributed to what happened as the initiator may have thought that his actions were all in fun.

  • Anonymous

Fallon’s tweet was sufficient to resolve the matter — and Bachmann said that she ACCEPTED his apology. Case closed. For NBC to cave into the usual conservative whining about their victimhood is just ridiculous. Never has any group amassed so much power and sobbed more about not always getting their way.

The likes of Barry Goldwater and William F. Buckley would never have tolerated today’s conservative crybabies.

  • Joan Kelly

Yes – I can read.  I merely corrected both statements.

Any politician that appears on any late night comedy show should no approach it as having tea with the Queen.

What kind of world is this where shoppers go to a department store and trample and pepper spray each other.A Target employee does not want to work a non-religious holiday as he is told to by management and suddenly the occupiers warn that they will go in.A national figure in politics is insulted with a vulgar slogan making an appearance on on a late night talk show and the another celebrity calls her a bonehead. This politician sits on a committee that deals with intelligence matters. They do not put boneheads in places like that. So they want to invade Target. Hundreds of them have been arrested already and I would imagine in some cases there will be trials. Having a criminal record may work for them but I don’t think so. When they grow up, they may not get that dream job after all and never know why they were rejected.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is a strong, independent, intelligent, attractive, articulate, powerful and accomplished conservative woman.  She has been selected by Forbes Magazine as one of the 100 most powerful women in America.  She is ranked number 22 behind Oprah (14), Michelle Obama (8) and Hillary (2).  She has also been slected by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Americans, male or female.  This terrifies the liberals who want their women wither to be “left wing kooks” or remain quiet, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.  Michele is living the life which Gloria Steinham and the “Womens Libbers” envisioned for women four decades ago.  She has an outstanding education, a husband, a family and a phenominally successful career.  She has it all!  She is a great role model for American women!
