Newt Gingrich: ‘I Will Ask John Bolton To Be Secretary of State’

video

Newt Gingrich said he would offer the Secretary of State position to controversial former UN ambassador John Bolton during a speech Wednesday with the Jewish Republican Coalition. Talking Points Memo reports his disclosure was a big applause line.

“There will be an executive order about two hours after the inaugural address. We will send the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, as of that day.

[Applause]

If he will accept it, I will ask John Bolton to be Secretary of State.”

[Applause]

While Gingrich’s mention created a stir in the Twitterverse, he had earlier made the suggestion at a campaign stop in New Hampshire a month ago.

“I think we need a secretary of state who is tough-minded and who would represent American interests. I think that Ambassador Bolton represents that kind of person.”

Today, I made the bold step of asking my 3 year-old standard poodle to be my Secretary of State. To my surprise, he accepted, and I rewarded him with a milkbone.

Unfortunately, he has as much chance at becoming Secretary of State as Michael “John” Bolton. I think Thor has a temperment more befitting of a SOS than MJB.

    oh god.

Just earned my vote. Bolton is badass with a capital B-A-D-A-S-S!

He rocks that silver “magnum” like few could/would. Re-rise of the Vulcans?

  • Anonymous

    Did you hear that?

That was the sound of Obama winning the presidency again.

    LOL

While this announcement will be popular with the Likud party and neocons, it won’t fly with independents in this country.

Chickenhawk Newt With The Cowardly Soul

    A draft-dodging chickenhawk named Newt
Went to great lengths not to be a recruit
When his last deferment was filed
With his teacher, he sired a child
And gave the military a middle-fingered salute.

As soon as the VietNam war was done
    Newt’s political career had begun
    The way he carried on
You’d think he was Gengis Khan
‘Cause he voted for any war they could fund.

That’s how it is with these political trolls
In a fight, you find ‘em hiding in holes
    Newt, Cheney, and Limbaugh
Can’t get enough shock n awe
But they $h!+ themselves with cowardly souls!

My goodness, Newt is not just immoral and unethical, he is a dangerous idiot too who apparently is keen on bombing Iran.

  • http://twitter.com/themercenary Amy Frame

Actually, Newt just broke the law. It is illegal to name appointments during an election.
    ” Title 18, Part I, Chapter 29, Section 599 of the U.S. Code:

“Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges
the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the
appointment of any person to any public or private position or
employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall
    be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both;
and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or
imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”

For a smart guy, he’s not very smart.

For a supposed genius, Newt says some of the stupidest shit. Why would you say you would appoint someone who wants to nuke Iran? How is it in the US’s interest to have a war monger as a SS? You would expect him to know the basic test: ‘is this person safe enough to have the nuke code?’ Dumb ass.

  • OSTL

We’re already at war with Iran, you’re just too dumb to realize it.

WH classifies Fort Hood massacre as ‘workplace violence’…Nice goin’ odummy. Nice goin.

Indeed we have been at war with them and their people since 1953. All on the down-low of course.

  • Anonymous

It shows how vapid you are. Why is he a badass again? Other than being a bellicosic war-mongering neocon?

  • Anonymous

Oh we are? Maybe you can show us that declaration from congress? Or maybe, presence of American troops on Iranian territory. I didn’t think so. Another reason why you dummies are delusional. All you do is hallucinate.

You mean like the declaration odummy got to invade libya?

Someone alert Bolton that Movember is over.    So what have I learned today:

    Newt ended communism.
    Got Romney his millions.
Already filling out his cabinet posts.

We didn’t invade Libya…last I heard the air campaign worked.  Then again, I guess you’re with the dictators.  You and the rest of the baggers.

  • Anonymous

I’m sure he’s gonna run right out and join up for the iran invasion.

How many troops did we lose in Libya?  How many troops did we lose in Iraq?  Moron.

Bolton makes Hitlery appear as a kiss ass imbecile

Damn, good comment you beat me to it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Al-Duhan/1410886187 Al Duhan

Is that why Obama’s cabinet is made up with everyone from G Bush.  Even all the bankers and CEOs from Gloden Sacs, Freddie Max and Fannie Mae.  This was because Obummer was too stupid to ellect some decent people.  The rest never paid their taxes but criminalized those that didn’t . I see where U are coming from.  Could welfare be involved?????

  • Anonymous

    I hope he does.

  • Anonymous

    Planning on enlisting, buddy?

  • Anonymous

I love it when liberals cry…..  The mere mention of Bolton makes them start whimpering and peeing their collective panties….  hahaha

  • Anonymous

Really? Obama’s cabinet is made up of Bush appointees? How about this. I dare you to name me a current appointee on Obama’s cabinet who held the same cabinet position or even another in Dubya’s. Maybe..you are not as stupid as you seem. Go! BTW…the President does not appoint the CEOs of private companies. Maybe I was being generous. You ARE stupid.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

You do realize that Bolton was a foreign affairs advisor, analyzed the intelligence which led us into invading Iraq, wants to invade Iran and North Korea, and believes that Iraq was behind the Ok bombing?

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Fort Hood was done by a Pakistani immigrant that was influenced by a Saudi Imam.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/William-Stearns/100002147063456 William Stearns

Ah yes, the Left’s way of justifying Obama’s unconstitional warmongering. If you drop bombs and don’t put troops in, that’s not war. I am sure the dead of Hiroshima and Nagasaki concur.

  • Anonymous

I hope Ron Paul does not shy away from this when it comes his time to speak.  I know Obama will probably take the coward’s way out and look forward, as usual.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

So you will inlist when we invade Iran and end up at war with Pakistan, India, Russia, & China? Two of them have balistic misses that can reach the united states

  • Anonymous

If I need to ..   btw I did 10 years already, a little more is not too much to ask…

oh, and the word is “enlist”,   of course you probably would not know anything about that…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/William-Stearns/100002147063456 William Stearns

Given how this RJC ‘debate’ went, I wouldn’t be surprised if the media completely blacks Paul out now with the ‘extreme’ excuse. Extreme like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson of course.

  • david r

No, all the wars are fought by young guys.  Like football, only more lethal. And a disproportionate amount of the poor and minority youth, I should add.  I think we are better off confronting the North Koreas of the world sooner instead of later.  President No Balls has done a good job of whacking Al Queda you have to say.  If only he’d have been tougher when he had majorities in both houses, and if he’d fixed the economy first before ramming through health care.  He spent all his political capital on health care only to get a watered down bill, and now he is powerless.  He gives a good speech, though.  Hillary would have been better.

  • david r

Romney and Obama should have a no-balls contest.  I always hated Newt when he was after the Clintons, but Obama sucks even worse.

  • david r

    That’s Libibya.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

That’s north Korea. Iran is a whole other story.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Thank you for your service. Also I am on a android phone so autocorrect is a little flakey.

But learn more about Persian military history. Also they have the largest and most capable military in the middle east. They have a full air force and navy. They also trade with China and Russia a lot. This isnt Iraq, Afghanistan, or Libya. They don’t like the current regime, but they are extremely nationalistic. They are also educated and have a booming middle class. This war will be long and bloody.

  • Anonymous

Bolton would be a great choice. Good one Newt.

  • Anonymous

Oh, Newt! How many gifts to the Democrats can one fat man bestow?

  • Anonymous

yes of course we’re regularly engaging in battle with iran. that’s like saying we’re at war with north korea, we’re fairly hostile towards them but we’re not at war with them.

Your comment is ambiguous at best.  Your humor eludes me?

If Obama had done this, the republiklans would already be starting the impeachment process.  But since it is a republiklan breaking the law I doubt they will be very interested.

  • Charles Ulysses Feney

I’ve got a Clinton collection that is downright impressive!

  • OSTL

thanks for making my point, dummy

  • Чёрт Возьми

While I would like to support your side, I know from my two decades of military service that Iran would not be that hard to beat. In fact, the only advantage Iran has over Iraq is better terrain for defending itself on the ground.
We could defeat Iran’s air force in a day, just like we did to Iraq. Same with the Iranian navy. (Defeating Iraq’s navy took about two hours.)
The real question should be why start a war that isn’t necessary?
The real political power in Iran is not in the control of Akmadman, and there will be no war of nukes.

you need to read an article about the military capabilities of Iran.

  • Чёрт Возьми

    @Just some Blow Hard
What articles have you read? Where do they tell you that Iran has anything significant?
I admit that it has been a few years since I specifically briefed generals on Iran’s military and political capabilities, but I can still follow what equipment Iran has (open source is 90% of peacetime intelligence), and it is NOT impressive.

Bolton…..another GOP neocon ass hole who would follow a serial adulturer like Newt into the fires of hell.

  • Anonymous

Oh good lord, Newt just lost any interest I may have had in his message.     Rove would be a much more adept at using diplomacy to get what we want over this jackass.  Bolton would quickly coalesce the world against us and make us the embittered country with no friends. Remember when people around the world looked up to the US?  It would even more of a ancient fable with this loser.
