O’Malley: Debbie Wasserman Schultz Rigged Debates for Hillary
Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley called out Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz Thursday for “rigging” the debates in favor of her friend Hillary Clinton.
O’Malley said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe that only having six debates before the primary season began was “bad for the country, and it’s political malpractice for the party… we need to start having debates.”
“Do you believe the process has been rigged by the party leaders for Hillary Clinton?” host Joe Scarborough asked.
“I do,” O’Malley said. “I think you’re so pressed to say ‘leaders.’ I’m told that this is the prerogative of the chair. There’s always an inclination I think for old relationships to kind of circle the wagons and protect one another.”
“And tell our viewers who the chair is?” Scarborough asked coyly.
“The chair is Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” O’Malley said smiling.
