Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards: ‘Hateful Rhetoric’ Has Real Implications
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richardsspoke out this afternoon on the shooting at a clinic this past Friday and the “toxic” political environment she believed provided context for the shooter’s actions.
MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell did note at the outset that so far there’s been no official “direct connection” between Republican rhetoric and the shooter’s actions, but noted how the GOP reaction to the shooting was “slow” at first.
Richards called it “so discouraging,” and said that “hateful rhetoric” and “harassment” directed at Planned Parenthood does have “real implications.”
She implored people “putting politics ahead of women’s health care” to think about rhetoric that “inflames this kind of activity.”
Richards again insisted that the scrutiny of Planned Parenthood over those videos released months ago concerning the selling of fetal tissue was completely unfounded.
