Rand Paul Explains Why Trump Is Like Gollum

Rand Paul appears to have run out of ways to call Donald Trump the worst, so now he’s just comparing Trump to Gollum.

Yes, that Gollum, the Lord of the Rings creature with a dark obsession with finding “the precious” ring so he can amass power. Paul wrote a whole Facebook post explaining why that sounds a lot like Trump.

And on CNN this afternoon, Paul explained to Jake Tapper that Trump “represents” that kind of “obsession” with power inherent in Gollum’s psyche.

He said that Trump keeps promising he’ll fix everything if everyone just gives him power, and pledged that if he’s president, the presidency will “have power taken away from it.”

Paul did clarify to Tapper that the comparison wasn’t meant to be a physical one.
