Toronto mayor Rob Ford made his first late night TV appearance Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and it was just as awkward as you would imagine. It mostly consisted of Kimmel bringing up hilarious aspects of Ford’s character and Ford’s most embarrassing moment while Ford just sat there and laughed it off. And at the top of the segment, when Ford came out on stage, the very first thing he did was throw t-shirts into the audience.
Kimmel couldn’t believe Ford actually agreed to come on his show, and on top of that, that Ford actually gives out his phone number to people. Ford says it’s because he wants to give taxpayers a direct line to him and so when they say “Jump,” he says, “How high?” Kimmel quipped, “Realistically, how high can you jump?”
Kimmel talked a lot about how angry people are Ford’s on the show, and in the second segment, Kimmel decided to make things as awkward as humanly possible by getting Ford to watch his most embarrassing televised moments, and Ford just laughed and laughed and explained away all of the strange messes he’s gotten himself into over the course of his rather unconventional political life.
