Roman Polanski’s $4.5 Million Bail Puts Him Under “Chalet” Arrest In Swiss Alps
That’s right — no more cell for Mr. Roman Polanski. The 76-year-old director, under arrest for the 1977 rape of a 13-year-old girl, was granted bail at the equivalent of a $4.5 million in late November and has since relocated to the Swiss Alps to await his fate. His luxurious house arrest — or “chalet arrest” as CNN dubbed it — has now begun, and would be the envy of his prison roommates, the below report states obviously, failing to mention that being “confined” to a house in the Alps is what most people call a dream vacation.
Sure, Polanski must wear a bracelet to track his movement, but other than not leaving the premises, the rules seem to be quite forgiving. He might even receive guests or work on a film project, CNN reports. Cushy, eh?
“It’s a new experience for us,” the town’s tour director tells CNN, as shots of expensive Prada bags and snow-dusted mountains shine. This, my friends, is the life. See for yourself. (On mute, the video looks like a tourism commercial.)
