Scott Walker Swats Away Heckler, Rouses Audience During CPAC Speech
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker took the stage at CPAC today and riled up the crowd with a speech touting a great many successes in his state, burnishing his credentials for a very likely 2016 run. Walker talked about true freedom being the government “empowering people to create their own lives” and got the crowd applauding when he said America celebrates independence, not dependence.
At one point, as Walker talked about improvements in Wisconsin (particularly about choice and union), there was a heckler in the crowd who spoke up. Walker just deflected him and said, “Apparently, the protesters come from Wisconsin as well.”
During the Q&A session, Walker took questions about fighting ISIS (“if I can take on 100,000 protesters, I can do the same across the world”), plans to help young people find jobs, and the minimum wage. At one point, people in the crowd chanted “Run, Scott, Run!” and Walker deflected with a joke about marathoning.
