The View Unloads on Ronny Jackson: Was He Drunk When He Said ‘Trump Is a Perfect Specimen’?
The co-hosts of The View aren’t often in unanimous agreement over any issue — especially when it comes to politics. But each women on Wednesday morning seemed to be of the same mind when it came to President Donald Trump’s controversial choice to head the Veterans Affairs administration, White House physician Dr. Ronny L. Jackson.
The show unloaded on Trump’s nominee after reports emerged surrounding his tenure as the White House physician under Trump and former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, including allegedly handing out medicine to staff without prescriptions and drinking on the job.
“Wasn’t he drunk the day that he said Trump is a perfect specimen?” comedian Joy Behar joked. “He must’ve been.”
Meghan McCain explained her concerns over the nomination, deriding Jackson’s lack of experience leading a federal agency and pointing out the public’s total lack of support for the president’s physician. “I don’t think any president’s doctor should be handing out pills the way he’s accused of doing, if that is in fact, true,” McCain said. “Our veterans and V.A. deserve so much better than this on so many different levels.”
“He can’t get confirmed — he can’t,” she concluded.
The hosts also mentioned the obvious hypocrisy over the Trump administration’s demands for “extreme vetting” when it comes to immigration while reportedly failing to perform a comprehensive vetting on the president’s latest nominee.
“It doesn’t matter who you voted for. We all can admit that America should be treated better than we are being treated,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “I feel like we could be doing a much better job just for ourselves.”
