WH Advisor Pfeiffer: ‘Foolish to Discount Possibility’ of Impeachment
Senior White House Advisor Dan Pfeiffer told This Week host George Stephanopoulos that impeachment was a real possibility with the House of Representatives. It was Pfeiffer’s initial comment on the possibility of impeachment that led some in Republican Party to argue that the White House was pushing impeachment as a (quite successful) fundraising tool.
“What I said was it would be foolish to discount the possibility that this Republican Congress would at some point in time would consider impeachment,” Pfeiffer said Sunday morning.

When Stephanopoulos argued that House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) had ruled it out, Pfeiffer echoed a point made simultaneously by Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Fox News Sunday: that Boehner had said he wouldn’t shut down the government, and we all saw how swimmingly that went.
“In the House of Representatives John Boehner might have the gavel, but Ted Cruz (R-TX) has the power,” he said. “When the House takes an unprecedented step to sue the President of the United States even though he’s issuing executive orders at the lowest rate in 100 years, I think it would be foolish to discount the possibility.”
