Trump Attacks ‘Illegal’ Mueller Probe Late Last Night and First Thing Today: ‘McCarthy Style Witch Hunt’

President Donald Trump’s near-constant complaints of the investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller continued Thursday morning, suggesting that legal implications of his administration are still very much at the top of his mind.
Amid numerous news reports that Trump is in a joint defense agreement with the conservative conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi (who has claimed to have rejected a plea deal with Mueller), and that the lawyers for Paul Manafort have been working with Trump’s lawyers, the investigation into whether or not the Trump campaign conspired with foreign agents to help his campaign appears to be coming closer to revelations.
In the eyes of the Commander in Chief, this is an “investigation in search of a crime.” To wit:
Did you ever see an investigation more in search of a crime? At the same time Mueller and the Angry Democrats aren’t even looking at the atrocious, and perhaps subversive, crimes that were committed by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. A total disgrace!

Shortly thereafter, he hit the very same Joseph McCarthy reference he made on Wednesday:
When will this illegal Joseph McCarthy style Witch Hunt, one that has shattered so many innocent lives, ever end-or will it just go on forever? After wasting more than $40,000,000 (is that possible?), it has proven only one thing-there was NO Collusion with Russia. So Ridiculous!

Thees tweets were published Thursday morning, roughly six hours after Trump tweeted something similar:
So much happening with the now discredited Witch Hunt. This total Hoax will be studied for years!

So it appears that President Trump felt the need to undermine the Mueller investigation just before going to sleep, then awoke with the same topic on his mind.
As Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy said of President Trump during a Fox News Sunday appearance in March of 2018 when asked about Trump’s repeated Twitter attacks on Mueller, “When you are innocent … act like it,” adding “If you’ve done nothing wrong, you should want the investigation to be as fulsome and thorough as possible.”
