MSNBC Anchor Has Wry Reaction To Details Of How Jan 6 Rioter Pleading Guilty Was Caught By Dating App Sting
MSNBC’s Chris Jansing knows when a story can speak for itself, and she proved that Wednesday after NBC’s Ryan Reilly presented the latest January 6 insurrectionist facing justice after he was tracked down on the Bumble dating app.
Reilly has been on the beat of identifying people involved in the January 6 insurrection — he even wrote a book about it. But one story in particular involved a woman using the pseudonym “Claire” finding out that the FBI was asking for help then wondering who she could find on Bumble by making a few tweaks to her profile.
After altering her profile to appear more appealing to conservatives, she was matched with Andrew Quentin Taake. And after he attended the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, he just could not resist telling her all about it:
… [Claire] was amazed by how willing guys were just to turn over info based on talking to a woman that they just met online. It was pretty simple for her to get these confessions and, you know, just say, “And then what happened? And then what happened?” And all of a sudden they would be turning over all this info.
To which Jansing responded: “I have no comment,” commending Reilly on selling the story well enough himself.
Reilly also shared the news on Twitter/X on Wednesday that Taake, who was caught on camera using pepper spray and a metal whip on Capitol police, was set to plead guilty. He also shared a few more details from Claire’s story in a thread that included excerpts from his book Sedition Hunters:

Reilly revealed that Claire was able to get three people in all to admit they were near the Capitol on January 6 after matching with them on Bumble.
