‘That’s Not the Mugshot’: CNN Airs Wrong Mugshot of Rudy Giuliani Amid His Multiple Indictments

One of the more daunting challenges of covering Donald Trump and his associates both past and present is keeping their various criminal indictments and convictions straight.

Though CNN has been a reliable go-to for news and analysis of said cases, on Monday the network showed the wrong mugshot of former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

The former mayor of New York has been indicted with Trump in Georgia for trying to overturn the state’s 2020 election results. He is also under indictment in Arizona in connection with a similar scheme, whereby the Trump electors in the state attested that they were the valid electors despite the fact Trump lost the state.

Giuliani has pleaded not guilty to all counts in both cases.

On Monday’s AC360 on CNN, Anderson Cooper told the audience Arizona authorities had just released Giuliani’s mugshot. As he spoke, Giuliani’s mugshot from the Georgia case appeared on the screen.

“And we just got… Rudy Giuliani’s mugshot from Arizona authorities,” Cooper announced. “This is his mugshot. Uh, that’s not the mugshot. Uh, we’ll try to get it.”

Cooper then asked CNN’s John Miller, “What happened to him?”

“Well, this has been an amazing rise and fall,” Miller replied. As he continued his answer, Cooper interrupted him as the correct mugshot appeared.

“Sorry,” he said. “By the way, this is the mugshot. That was another mugshot of his, which, clearly, he’s gotten a lesson from that prior mugshot because he’s smiling at least.”

“So, now he’s on his second mug shot,” Miller said. “But he has hitched himself to the Donald Trump wagon, but he’s also been through multiple breakups and divorces. He’s lost millions and millions of dollars. He’s in bankruptcy see his apartment is up for sale.”
