Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley slammed former President Donald Trump after a civil jury awarded E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million in her defamation case.
A New York jury ruled on Friday that the Republican frontrunner must pay $83.3 million for defaming Carroll. Previously, she had been awarded $5 million in damages from Trump after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing Carroll back in the 1990s.
Haley, who is one of the few remaining contenders against Trump as he seeks to secure the Republican nomination, used the less than ideal news day for the former president to grill him on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Donald Trump wants to be the presumptive Republican nominee and we’re talking about $83 million in damages,” Haley posted on X, following the verdict’s announcement on Friday evening.
Donald Trump wants to be the presumptive Republican nominee and we’re talking about $83 million in damages. We’re not talking about fixing the border. We’re not talking about tackling inflation. America can do better than Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

“America can do better than Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” she continued.
Recently, Trump defeated Haley in the New Hampshire primary by double digit points. Earlier this month he also came in first during the Iowa Caucus by more than half the votes.
In the past, Haley has criticized Trump for his civil and criminal legal issues, claiming that he brings “chaos” with him everywhere he goes. Earlier this month she told CNN that if Trump is found guilty “he needs to pay the price.”
