‘Adult Woman With the Brain of a Child’: Jimmy Kimmel Mocks GOP Sen. Katie Britt at Oscars Over SOTU Response

Oscars emcee Jimmy Kimmel was only moments into Sunday’s broadcast of The 96th Academy Awards ceremony on ABC when he took his first shot at the GOP, mocking Alabama Sen. Katie Britt for her delivery of the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday.

Late night host Kimmel hosted the 2024 Oscars for the 4th time on Sunday, and went right to joking about Republicans, as he often does in the opening monologue of Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.

Britt is the junior Republican Senator from Alabama and delivered the official Republican response to Biden’s State of the Union, which did not go well.

Britt faced mockery from the left and bad reviews from the right for her remarks and delivery, a pile-on that continued through Saturday Night Live and into Sunday’s awards ceremony.

As Kimmel was doing his opening monologue, naming the big movies and actors that will feature prominently in the ceremony, he pointed out nominee Emma Stone, who starred in the movie Poor Things which is expected to do well.

“Emma Stone is an Oscar nominee for a fifth time. Right? The fifth time,” said Kimmel. “This is, and she is — Emma, you are, you were so unbelievably great in Poor Things.”

He turned to the audience and cameras to explain.

“Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night,” he said. “And you were just amazing.”

The Hollywood audience laughed uproariously at the jab.
