British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay revealed Saturday he was diagnosed with skin cancer and has undergone surgery to remove it, urging fans to take sun safety seriously.

The 58-year-old chef and TV personality posted a picture to Instagram showing a stitched scar running from his earlobe to his neck, alongside a bandage covering part of his face.

“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma thank you!” he wrote. “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend.”

Known for his sharp wit, Ramsay also brushed off speculation he had undergone surgery for a facelift.

“I’d need a refund,” he joked.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer, typically linked to prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation. It often appears on sun-exposed areas such as the face and neck, and while treatable, can be locally invasive if left unchecked.

Ramsay is known in the U.K. and U.S. for fronting hit shows including Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and MasterChef. In May, the Michelin-starred chef launched his latest show Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service on Fox. Beyond the screen, he runs a global empire of more than 80 restaurants.
