Newsmax Acquires Video of Alec Baldwin Car Crash, Claims It Contradicts His Account

Newsmax has acquired a video of the Alec Baldwin car crash, which the network claims contradicts the actor’s account of the accident.

The video, taken from the commercial truck Baldwin had blamed for the crash, appears to show the vehicle making a right turn onto Montauk Highway in East Hampton before the Range Rover — driven by Baldwin — appears on its right side, hopping a curb and smashing into a tree.

Baldwin, 67, who was driving his wife Hilaria’s car with his younger brother, fellow actor Stephen Baldwin, was not injured in the crash.

In a social media video taken after the crash, Baldwin claimed a truck “the size of a whale” had cut him off.

“This morning, I was in this car accident,” he said. “Guy cut me off. Big garbage truck the size of a whale. Never seen a garbage truck … must’ve been something commercial, for like, taking away material from construction or something. It was the biggest garbage truck I’ve ever seen. Anyway, I won’t go into the details now. I won’t bore you. But to avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree and crushed my car. My wife’s car. I crushed my wife’s car — I feel bad about that. But it’s all fine. And I’m fine, and my brother’s fine. Bompity bomp.”

Presenting the video on Tuesday, Newsmax claimed that the truck “does not appear to impede” Baldwin’s path. The network reported:

Instead, the footage shows Alec Baldwin’s vehicle attempting to maneuver around the truck after it had already completed its turn.

There is no visible indication that the truck forced Alec Baldwin from his lane, nor any sudden obstruction requiring evasive action. Seconds later, his SUV loses control and crashes into the tree.

East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo told Patch that no summonses were issued, and the cause of the accident appeared to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and slippery road conditions.
