Some SNL Castmembers Are NOT Happy About Elon Musk Hosting the Show

Last week’s announcement that Elon Musk will guest host the May 8th installment of Saturday Night Live elated fans of the tech tycoon and second richest man in the world, but the reaction among some castmembers has been less than enthusiastic.
Let’s find out just how live Saturday Night Live really is ?

On Saturday, Musk tweeted, “Let’s find out how live Saturday night really is,” which elicited puzzlement in castmember Bowen Yang.
“What the f*ck does that even mean?” Yang wondered in an Instagram story (according to CNBC).
Meanwhile, shortly after news broke that Musk would be guest-hosting, castmember Aidy Bryant shared a tweet from Bernie Sanders from last March noting that the 50 wealthiest Americans have more wealth than the bottom 165 million. It is estimated that Musk, a native-born South African who became a U.S. citizen in 2002, has a net worth estimated at $187 billion as of this writing.
Andrew Dismukes also made a subtle dig at the choice on Instagram, where he posted a story featuring a photo of him with former castmember Cheri Oteri and a caption reading, “ONLY CEO I WANT TO DO A SKETCH WITH IS Cher-E Oteri.”
Musk has been a controversial figure. Last year he received an onslaught of criticism for tweets in which he downplayed the Covid-19 pandemic. Early during the crisis in March of 2020 he called the pandemic “dumb” and in a separate tweet predicted the U.S. would be “probably close to zero new cases” of Covid-19 by the end of April 2020.

Based on current trends, probably close to zero new cases in US too by end of April

In May 2020, as it was clear that the pandemic wasn’t “dumb” and that cases of Covid-19 in the U.S. would continue to rise, Musk reopened Tesla’s factory in Fremont, CA in defiance of a shutdown mandate issued by Alameda County. He even announced the move on Twitter.
Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules. I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me.

Neither Tesla, nor Musk were penalized by Alameda County officials for the factory reopening.
