David Chang Goes to Chelsea: Momofuku Nishi Opening Tonight
Chelsea, you are lucky. And it’s not often we say that. With the exception of a few standout places (Sushi Seki and Cookshop, and Legend Bar & Restaurant among them), the neighborhood, even with its influx of art galleries is somehow still not flush with excellent restaurants. But it’s getting there.

Tonight, Momofuku Nishi is opening. David Chang’s newest spot will be a Korean menu with Italian and other global influences, and while the menu isn’t up on the website yet, expect it to be interesting. Joshua Pinsky is coming from Momofuku Ko, where he spent several years, and will be the executive chef ; Sara Jimenez is coming from Momofuku Ssäm bar to be the general manager. And, in the spirit of 2016, there will be no tipping.
We’re into pretty much everything Chang does. He’s always changing it up and embracing trends with his own personal flare. Fuku, his recent foray into the fried chicken sandwich game is a perfect example; he steams his buns and amps it up with habanero marinated chicken and the option of Ssäm sauce. Guy knows what he’s doing.
Momofuku Nishi is located at 232 8th Ave, bet. 21st and 22nd Sts.
