WATCH: Why Did Mario Batali Refuse To Hire Johnny Iuzzini?

ABC’s The Chew dedicated today’s episode to desserts, and who better to demo a recipe than Top Chef: Just Desserts head judge Johnny Iuzzini. Billed by the talk show as “baking’s sexy bad boy” — which, really? He just looks like the greaser throwback theater kids from high school — Jean Georges‘s pastry chef came armed with a Brazilian carrot cake recipe to show off, but also dropped a bomb on host Mario Batali. Apparently Johnny had sent his resume to Batali several times over the years and never once got a call. “You get paid more working for those French guys,” Mario quipped.
