Ted Allen Gets Engaged On The Heels Of DOMA Decision

Welp, that’s one way to ensure a memorable proposal. Ted Allen, James Beard Award-winning host of Chopped, and beloved Food Eye of Bravo’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy announced via Twitter just a few moments ago that he’s engaged!

Proud to announce on this historic day that my partner of 20 years, Barry Rice, and I are engaged to be married. :)

Ted and Barry, who works as an interior designer, live together in New York. Their announcement comes on the heels of a decision from the Supreme Court of the United States ruling the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as unconstitutional, and declaring that same-sex couples living in states where gay marriage is recognized are entitled to the same federal benefits given to all married couples.
