WATCH: Tiffany Derry Couldn’t Cook Pasta For Years

Tiffany Derry, former Top Cheftestant and owner of Private Social, graduated from the Art Insititute of Houston. How do we know this? Well, Ms. Derry did some promtional YouTube videos for the school, providing advice to future students and sharing a bit about herself — including something that could have kept her from achieving Top Chef success.

Even though Tiffany discovered her passion for cooking early, she needed some time to get the basics down. Apparently, it took her years to figure out how to cook pasta, even though she had already mastered the art of the sauce. It’s a good thing that she eventually learned; Tom Colicchio’s head would probably explode if he was served terrible pasta, no matter how awesome the sauce is. Plus, we’re pretty sure that the application for the show includes something about knowing the basics of cooking. After all, this isn’t Worst Cooks in America.
