Fox News Segment Spins Trump’s ‘Bloodbath’ Remark By Playing Supercut of Other People Using the Word

Fox News host Emily Compagno attempted to tackle the controversy over former President Donald Trump’s use of the word “bloodbath” by playing a supercut of his “critics” using the same word on-air.

Trump spoke in Ohio over the weekend about the auto industry when he used the disputed word:

They think that they’re going to sell those cars into the United States with no tax at the border. Let me tell you something to China. If you’re listening President Xi [Jinping], and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal: Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re gonna get that, you’re gonna not hire Americans and you’re gonna sell the cars to us — no.

We’re gonna put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not gonna be able to sell those guys if I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s gonna be the least of it, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the country, that’ll be the least of it.

On Monday’s Outnumbered, Compagno quipped, “With such uproar over Trump’s remarks, you would think his critics would have never used a term like ‘bloodbath’ in the past. Think again.”

She then played a 40-second supercut of  cable news personalities she identified as “liberal” using the word. They included Rachel Maddow, Erin Burnett, Ali Vitali, Symone Sanders-Townsend, Joe Scarborough, Van Jones, and Joy Reid.

“Ah, that ‘bloodbath’ tastes like raspberry sweet jam!” Compagno bizarrely exclaimed. “That’s a lot of hypocrisy we just saw!”

Over the weekend, as conservatives emphasized that Trump’s words were taken out of context and simply described his prediction about the auto industry. MSNBC host Jen Psaki took a different view, explaining why the word felt “dangerous” when uttered by Trump:

Because “the full context” is the Trump kicked off the same exact rally by saluting the people who were convicted for the deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, all to the tune of the National Anthem sung by a choir of imprisoned insurrectionists.

“The full context” is that some of the first words out of Trump’s mouth last night, same rally, were thanking those rioters and calling them “patriots.”

“The full context” is that he also said, in this same rally, quote, “If this election isn’t won, I’m not sure you will ever have another election in this country.”

“The full context” is that he went on to say that some undocumented immigrants are, quote, “not people.”

And, of course, “the full context” is that this is much bigger than one single speech.
