‘An Utter Disgrace’: Trump Slammed By Right and Left For Pardoning Jan. 6 Rioters
President Donald Trump on Monday pardoned nearly all the January 6 defendants, and commuted the sentences of others, in a major first move in office he had been promising for over a year on the campaign trail.
Trump signed a slew of executive actions upon his return to the Oval Office on Monday night after his inauguration ceremony and celebration, including massive pardons for January 6 offenders.
While many the right were celebratory on social media, some on that side of the aisle were decidedly less so. And on the left, the reaction was even stronger and more negative, with condemnations pouring in even as the first prisoners were being set free from federal prisons.
“President Trump’s pardon of Jan 6 insurrectionists disrespects the police who fought & died to protect the Capitol,” said one post. Another read, “Did Trump actually pardon Tarrio? Even fur Trump, that is nuts.”
