‘Multiple’ Police Reported Shot in ‘Active Shooter’ Situation in Charlotte, NC

Three police officers were killed and five injured Monday as they attempted to serve a warrant in Charlotte, NC.

The search warrant was for a felon who was wanted for possessing a gun.

The Associated Press reported:

The officers were first shot at as they approached the suburban home, and then they fired at a suspect in the front yard, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said. He said after that man fell, more shots were fired at them from inside the home.

A suspect was found dead in the front yard and two other people were found in the home after a three-hour standoff and are being questioned, Jennings said. Authorities said two shooters were involved in the attack.

Earlier Monday, North Carolina media reported “numerous” law enforcement officers shot in an ongoing “active shooter” situation in East Charlotte.

WSOC reported that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said “multiple” people had been transported to area hospitals.

The CMPD issued a Severe Alert for the area of North Tryon.
