Charlamagne Calls for Dem Leaders to Step Down for Voting to Pass GOP Funding Bill to Avoid Shutdown: ‘What’s the Point of Voting for Them?’

Charlamagne tha God called for Democratic leaders to step down after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced his intention to vote in favor of the GOP spending bill.

Lawmakers were up against a Friday night deadline to pass the bill and avoid a government shutdown. Schumer previously made his opposition to the bill clear and said that he was willing to let a shutdown happen.

During a floor speech on Thursday night, however, Schumer changed his tune when he suggested he would vote for the bill to prevent the shutdown. With Schumer’s stance changing, Republicans were likely to have the 60 votes required to pass the bill and send it from the Senate to the desk of President Donald Trump.

In response to Schumer’s apparent flip-flopping, Charlamagne said on Friday morning’s episode of The Breakfast Club that the Democratic Party’s leadership — including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries — should resign.

“I mean, you know, per usual, the party of inaction — the Democrats — have failed to protect the interest of the American people,” Charlamagne said. “And you know why Dems suck at messaging? Because they’re never talking about nothing and they do nothing. So guess what? To me, they all got to go. Like, Dems don’t just have a messaging problem. They got a leadership problem. The Chuck Schumers of the world, the Hakeem Jeffries — they should all step down, and any Dem who isn’t fighting for the people and standing with the party should be primaried.

“Like, how can you say the the the the bill sucks but you’re passing it anyway. Like, you’re not going to even try to you know present something different, try to negotiate? Nothing? Just, ‘It sucks but we’re going to pass it anyway’ — What’s the point of voting for them?”
