CNN Anchors Praise Ex-Trump Aide’s ‘Rizz’ After He Torches Trump’s Rival For Lacking Said ‘Rizz’ As Teens Die of Cringe
Teens and tweens everywhere sensed a disturbance in the Force when CNN anchors praised ex-Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci’s “rizz” after a Trump rival’s “rizz” was called into question.
Former President Donald Trump leads the Republican primary field by several country miles, but Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) continued his quest to close the gap by taking the stage Tuesday night for a CNN Town Hall event hosted by Jake Tapper. DeSantis took several swipes at Trump during the event.
On Wednesday morning’s edition of CNN This Morning, Scaramucci — a longtime Trump pal during his New York Days who infamously flamed out as White House communications director after only ten days — provided his take in a panel discussion of the town hall.
Along the way, Oxford Word of the Year “rizz” was invoked and, indeed, bandied about:
ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI: You know, listen, Governor DeSantis has a very good record in Florida, I think Kate gave a very fair assessment of him. But he really hasn’t shown up to be president when you look at him. The American people have a little test in their head. President, not president. And he has never really rung the bell for a large enough people as president. They don’t see him as president. He doesn’t have the, the rizz. Isn’t that a new?
POPPY HARLOW: The rizz? The rizz!
PHIL MATTINGLY: There’s a no-percent chance probably knows what you’re talking about. And I do. And I are deeply deeply respect where you’re going with this.
KATE BEDINGFIELD: I’m young, I’m hip, I know the slang!
ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI: You know, Phil, Ron’s got no rizz. And you know that. And I know that. These other people got the rizz. Ron’s got no rizz. And I think that’s really what Trump is going to press on as it relates to this.
PHIL MATTINGLY: You know, I am of the opinion, beyond dipping into this, I love where that went…
The gang called back to the gag as the segment wrapped up:
POPPY HARLOW: Thanks. Anthony “Rizz” Scaramucci.
PHIL MATTINGLY: Nobody, nobody questions Anthony’s rizz. (crosstalk). There’s no question. You got it.
ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI: Phil you got the rizz, too.
POPPY HARLOW: He does. Down to the bedazzled flag on your lapel. Always makes it.
I asked my 14-year-old daughter to define the term, whose spirit seems to elude the more aged, and she enlisted a friend to elucidate the verb form — “basically when someone is flirting in a jerk-ish way or like saying really random things like ‘I’ve got something in my eyes you’re so beautiful.'”
I then informed her why I had asked:
Me: They were using it on CNN
My Teen: WHAT
